Hello, I did post a request on 17th August, asking if you had any info on the Whelbands, Welbands or Wellbands, and I haven't had a reply. Have I offended you in any way, did you overlook me, or is ther just no mention of them. Judith x

Mike You're a wonder! Gosh, Marina - too much for the enumerators and possibly the family -she is always Maria - wonder whether the vicar had been at the old bottle. Oh - which year was the baptism? Jan

Hello again Thank you again for your help with my Goughs, can i ask again, please. Would you be able to find births/christenings and parents for John Gough and Mary Hearn, both born around 1804/1806 in Leicester i hope, as they were married in 1824 at St Margarets. I have tried Hugh Wallis and IGI with no luck. Thank you Sylvia

Jan Report 31 Aug 2006 09:37

As genuki didn't have anything, I used historicaldirectories*com and found: OSBASTON is a township, in the parishes of Cadeby and Marker Bosworth, pleasantly situated 2¾ miles north-east from Market Bosworth station…in the Western division of the county, Sparkenhoe Hundred, Market Bosworth petty sessional division, union and county court district. The church here has long been destroyed; the inhabitants attend the churches at Market Bosworth and Cadeby. Kelly’s 1891 (Part 2) If they didn't go there, it might mean a trawl through the surrounding areas . GENUKI gives these parishes as within 3 miles of Osbaston: BARLESTONE, CADEBY, MARKET BOSWORTH, NEWBOLD VERDON, CARLTON, NAILSTONE, SUTTON CHENEY, BAGWORTH. Hope this helps! Jan

Thank you for all that info Mike, i was a Gough before i married, so these are my direct decendants on my fathers side. Mmm i wonder what Richard owed that threepence for?, my son and i decided it could have been pronounced thrupence back then. Is there anywhere i can look to find out? It must have been both a sad and happy day for John jnr and Sarah when they got married with both their fathers having passed on. Thank you again Sylvia
