Hi Merry, am beginning to rely on you and Heather for sensible threads and replies....much appreciated. Heather working for hubby???? Better not start that thread again! How a bout a query: Am looking for marriage of William Purcell and Sarah Hannah Forward probably about 1850 (that's when 1st child born I think). Would be in London (possibly Whitechapel, Shoreditch etc). Unfortunately can't find on FreeBMD and Ancestry ....any ideas? Wonder how many records have gone missing for that time and area?

Merry

Merry Report 22 Mar 2006 16:32

Can you find them on a census?? If yes, can you post the details so I know who we are talking about.....?? Merry

Merry

Merry Report 22 Mar 2006 16:37

Stop it Heather......trouble is, I wanted to ask which child(ren) Chrispy has the birth cert(s) for. The marriage may not be so early if Sarah wasn't the mother of all the children......but now Chrispy has gone and I haven't asked.....:o(( Merry

Heather

I think she was getting my abilities to order from Tesco*com confused with my sleuthing activities!

Ain Cowling abt 1849 Shoreditch, Middlesex, England Daughter Islington Middlesex John Cowling abt 1831 Gravesend, Kent, England Head Islington Middlesex Mary A Cowling abt 1850 Shoreditch, Middlesex, England Daughter Islington Middlesex Sarah Cowling abt 1830 Gravesend, Kent, England Wife Islington Middlesex William Purcell abt 1826 Hackney Visitor Islington Middlesex Elizabeth Smith abt 1834 Lambeth Visitor Islington Middlesex He is shown as married otherwise I would be eyeing the other visitor, Elizabeth!

Merry

Merry Report 22 Mar 2006 17:23

The one that is Chrispy's family is a Waterman You found the baker (single) and there is this one, below (married, but no wife of family in the house): William Purcell abt 1826 Hackney Visitor Islington Middlesex Correct place of birth. He is a labourer. All we need now is a candlestick maker! Merry

Merry

Merry Report 22 Mar 2006 17:25

Sorry, we crossed....... I can't find Sarah or the son William in 1851. (or a William with a diff mother in 1851) Merry

Heather

Heather Report 22 Mar 2006 17:28

No that guy is only 1 year out isnt he. But a waterman? I shall just consult my specialist records, whilst squinting through the blinds in horror of hubby not tripping the wire Merry.

Heather

Heather Report 22 Mar 2006 17:29

Cant find sarah either - I suppose, if the kiddie was just born ................. No sign of William being apprenticed as a waterman - more likely a watermans labourer.
