Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 25 Aug 2018 07:40

A closed record would be opened on the 1939 if the death has been picked up

As Kathleen was thought to have died in the 1940,s she should be an open record

""". They were born less than 100 years ago

The record of anyone born less than 100 years ago is closed unless they are known to have died. For more information see section 9..

The 1939 uk Register wasnt released until 2nd November 2015.so anyone born after 1915 and had died still remained a closed records

If someone was born less than 100 years ago, and has died, their record may still be closed if their death was not notified and recorded in the register. Deaths that occurred outside the United Kingdom are unlikely to have been notified. These include the majority of Second World War deaths.""

Edit---The above is a C&P as written from the UK National Archives.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If she died prior to the begining of the NHS then her death would go un-noticed,as in 1948 as free health care came into force, each person had to register with a doctor so if she didnt register she wouldnt be known about.also on its release Kathleen was still below the 100 year closure..

Edit---Also some records will remain closed for a while because of the many thousands who emigrated after 1945,,the GRO has no confirmation of when these people passed away.
