Deb , given that they are i the bossom of the family i wouldn't worry about it too much. There probably was a village ,now gone, in the area- it does say Warwickshire!

Deb

Deb Report 13 May 2005 23:14

Yep i know , gonna have to go digging i think to see what Walton on the hill means (presumably a small village on top of a hill , from there I may be able to work out where they were as I do know all of us(past and present) were born in Warwickshire Lol , I just had a brainwave , hows about searching Walton on the HILL is it (RG12 FOR 1891) as CHARLES 10 and LEONARD 6(AS IN 1901) were born there , surely that would find them for the 1891 census wouldn't it or is that my brain running away with my thoughts again !? Hi Again Jess Are there any marriage /death records for (1) JOSEPH SUTTON born 1830 (2) JOHN H SUTTON born 1856 (think BETSY'S maiden was MILLER) (3) JOHN SUTTON born 1886 (married a SELINA HANDLEY , he died abt 1934) He was apparently a LAYPREACHER at UNION PLACE CHAPEL in Coventry ************************************************** Forgot this one from PILSBURY too Any marriage records for WILLIAM PILSBURY born 1886 , ETTINGSHALL , STAFFORDSHIRE , I know he too married SELINA (after 1934, probably about 1939) but he was apparently married once before SELINA , there were children born into this marriage , called HILDA , VIOLET ,KATHERINE,WILLIAM and MARGARET (most likely to be the STAFFORDSHIRE area) Cheers again Debs

Deb - trying to sort out your first Pilsbury marriage.- (i assume you mean the children were from his first marriage) This is probably the birth record for Violet Name: PILSBURY, Violet Record Type: Births Quarter: June Year: 1904 District: West Bromwich County: Shropshire Staffordshire Worcestershire Volume: 6b Page: 887 (click to see others on page . (*trying to establish when he married) Without knowing who he married and when it is very difficult! If Violet is a child from this first marriage, send for her birth cert and it will give you her mothers name and maiden name .......................................................... You can look the marriages up on free BMD

Deb

Deb Report 14 May 2005 14:53

GRRRR !!!!!! (dont know if it's me or me just not searching correctly - either way it has to be and my luck) Jess can u see on BMD a marriage between JOHN SUTTON (BORN 1886)and SELINA HANDLEY (BORN 1900) would be either WARWICKSHIRE OR NORTHAMTONSHIRE , POSS STAFFORDSHIRE I would assume it would have been between 1917 (Selina aged 17 , the average age of the female marrying and 1921 when the first child was born (IVY SUTTON born 6 july 1921) ) I assume this as John was a lay preacher and I would have thought it to be against his beliefs to have a child out of marriage. Would you have any idea where I may find out info on him being a lay preacher (UNION PLACE CHAPEL COVENTRY) Debs
