Hi,

Could anyone look up Levi Callear born 1877 (Featherstone area we believe but could be wrong) and Alice Westwood 1878.

They had Children Mary, Rachael, Gladys, George, Alice, Albert, and Edna.

I am hoping to find Levi and Alice with their parents.

Any help would be appreciated.

There is a Levi b 1878 in Bilston in the 1881 census on familysearch.org - would that be the right area?

Could well be Joy. Is Bilston in the West Midlands? - sorry to sound thick. I know alot of people came from that area for work in the mines.

Can you find him in 1901 with Alice?

Hi Joy,

Think you may have him there as they have Children named after the Parents.

They were the only Levis in 1881 on that free site. I'll have a look at 1901 later on the ancestry site if no one else has done so, got to leave the computer for a while.

Thanks Joy it's appreciated. I tried to join Ancestry earlier but it won't take my card details as it's a Solo card. Looks like I am going to have to speak to my Mum and borrow the dreaded Credit Card.

Thanks again.

The marriage is June quarter 1901, so they won't be together on the 1901 census.

Kate, I can't find any of the Callear family in 1901! I've even tried first names and birthplaces only. I wondered if Levi Sr. had died and Rachel re-married but no, I found her death in 1914 as Rachel Callear in Pontrefact, aged 66.

Found the death of Levi Sr, 1897 in Pontrefact, age 50.
There's also a death of Levi in 1902, age 0. A son of Levi Jr?

Kate

Kate Report 13 Jan 2008 13:43

Hi Margaret,

Thank you very much.

It could indeed be a child of Levi Jr as their 1st child was born in 1903.

Can anyone find Alice?

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 13 Jan 2008 13:58

I had already looked for Alice but there are so many Alice Westwoods that I can't tell which one is her. You don't know where she was born, do you?

Hi Margaret,

I don't I'm afraid. I had a look on Family Search but there were a few. She had a brother called William so narrowed it down to a couple.

Think only way to tell is to order there Marriage Certificate.

Gonna be cheeky now but could you have a look on 1841 for Rachael and Levi with their parents please.

Thanks.

They wouldn't have been born yet for the 41 census. Also, do we know Rachel's maiden name?
I'll go and have a look at the 51 census.

This one has been mistranscribed as Collver but someone has corrected it, so someone is working on the family.
