After doing some alterations I have come across a letter in the original envelope dated 1943.

The letter is addressed to an Eileen Sheen, address will be disclosed upon more info req.

This is a war love letter, some of it in Spanish, French and English.

I would like to pass this onto someone who is researching their tree as it is an invaluable piece which could never be replaced.

Please email me if you think this letter belongs to your tree.

Thanks
Amanda

Well I am at a bit of a standstill now. The lady who lived here was married, she was Eileen Mary Fairlamb - I have checked marriages etc and her maiden name was Bishop.

I have checked the births and she was born Bishop so she hasnt married previous.

The area ofthe letters is Bristol and London. The partner was an Argentinian soldier who was called back to his country to fight in the War?

maybe Mrs fairlamb was looking after the letter for a friend who may of lived in the same street.

I wonder if she was married and used the name Sheen as an alias?

Amanda

Amanda Report 13 Mar 2008 17:03

possibly she could have, I will never know unless someone comes forward.

Its not hurting though I have had the letter 5 years now, I will just keep a hold of it until someone comes forward

Was the letter addressed to Miss or Mrs?

Amanda

Amanda Report 14 Mar 2008 17:05

The letter was only addressed to Eileen Sheen no Miss, Ms or Mrs.

I will probably go with the theory of an Alias and try to track down some of Eileen Fairlamb's relatives.

Thanks everyone for your help

Hi Jacqueline,

It may be worth sending a PM to Amanda as this is an oldish thread.

just to let you know i found this thread by typing in the name fairlamb as its my family name, as its a fairly uncommon name and i usually only get a few hits, and sometimes it gives me gems.
