But on the actual topic of the thread ...

Video phones.

That and flying cars -- isn't that what the future was supposed to be?

When it sank into my consciousness that we actually had phones that took pictures, and then actual video phones ... I looked around for the flying cars.

I've lived long enough to see the future!

Now where's that Great Canadian, Capt. James T. Kirk?

morning.

Actually, i've got an all singing, all dancing, microwave go faster state of the art moble, the size of a stamp with the computing power of the entire NATO military machine, about a zigobyte of memory and an attacment that boils an egg. Problem is, 'cos I live in a Nazi Park area, the townie administrators wont allow a mast anywhere so theres no flipping signal.

Useless!

Bet its expensive to have a video call.

My prob was I wanted a phone that I could make calls, make texts and take a half decent picture.
I would have been happy with that but they load on about a dozen things that I will probably never use...

I haven't looked into how expensive the calls are, but you're almost certainly right..

Thats the thing with these ALL TECH mobiles...they have many features...but lets face...how many are we actually gonna use?

This then makes them to tricky to use well.
As you say..txting..take a good picture..and maybe video.

Mine has a radio and mp3 player..but I already have an mp3 player with radio.

Using those kind of things on yea mobile just runs down the battery...
Example..on a long journey..say a bus or train. You listen to music or radio....THEN..you need to make an emergency call......but you cant...because your battery is now flat because youve been listening to music. BUGGER!

All though my mobile can play mp3's and has a radio..I use a separate device....I want to be able to use my phone..when I REALLY need to.

Plus..as you say..others have to be compatable with your phone to make a video call..
And how many of us have friends and family who are?
Not me...so it would be a pointless feature.
Unless you get everyone you know to upgrade to a video phone.
But ..you could argue..that its a feature .you may not use..but its there just inacase.
If you dont upgrade in a year or so...lol

I know a chap, who when upgrade time comes around, he researches which phones sell better/for more, then asks for that one, he keeps his old phone and sells the new one, he reckons it pays for at least 6 months of his phone costs....
