Ann, may I disagree with you? This site has very little to offer the average teenager. I suspect that it would be someone older, possibly someone who doesn't know how to join in.

It does seem to happen more in the school holidays so maybe a few bored teenagers pressing the request review button. But not on all occasions I think.

Well I am thoroughly cheesed off with the whole lot of it. I hardly come on here myself these days and with GR acting like the KGB its even worse.

I for one wont be renewing in December. I can have chats and ancestry look ups elsewhere -with less hassle.

Wishing you all a lovely day

Conspiracy theory number 2 GR are watching the General Board but that doesn't add up as Chat appears to be OK

Conspiracy theory number 3 someone has appointed themself as moderator & is spending the day with their finger on the review button

Obviously yes Ann. The 'request review' button has proved to be irrisistable and too easy for those who want to cause trouble.

It seems to be lately Ann................if I get a bit too involved in anything unpleasant I switch off and come back later.

There seems to be a power struggle on here sometimes, an undercurrent of "I'm more popular than you", all very silly and pathetic, but it spoils the boards.

I love a good debate, but they are very few and far between lately as the same people leap in with uncalled for personal remarks.......................and why don't they get sent on holiday?

*sighs* I am turning into a very grumpy middle-aged lady lately:(

AnninGlos Report 6 Aug 2008 08:59

I had a thread up on this a couple of days ago which I deleted because it started to turn nasty (as usual). Many people like the request review button and say they wouldn't like to approach some people to ask for threads to be deleted because of being openly mocked for it! So you can't win. It just need everyone to use the facility sensibly like adults. is that too much to ask?

LindaRSJ

LindaRSJ Report 6 Aug 2008 08:56

Personally I think the 'request review' button should be given a life time ban.

Lets go back to asking the poster to delete and failing that contact GR and give the reason why a post/thread should be deleted.

Or is all that beyond some peoples ability?

Linda

I absolutely agree with you there Ann........no wonder people are posting less lately, me included:(

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 6 Aug 2008 08:37

Rose but isn't it because of the inter member rows and undercurrents that people are deleted really? GR don't read the threads so, unless someone pettily presses the 'request review' button on a post which they know will get a member suspended or banned, GR wouldn't go into the thread and therefore would not know to suspend somebody for breaking T&Cs?

I agree, people should be allowed to have their opinions and move on and, whether we agree with them or like them or not, we should move on too and not report posts for personal reasons. But it happens which is why at the moment we have people suspended.

The thing is Lindsey
the rows have been here for a long time .
but GR suspend ppl for the sillist thing even debates which is unfair coz all debates get heated at times but shouldnt be taken personally .
ppl should be able to have their opinion then move on .
sadly gr dont agree lol
