RB,

I dont put any of mine out until the end of MAY, been caught out to many times and lost the lot. we can still get frost, high winds, and heavy rain which can kill or damage your plants.mine are still in my greenhouse nice and warm i wont take the risk but thats me.

Depends where in UK you live really, some places get later frosts than others. We don't usually put ours out until end May.

I used to always plant mine on 14 May, my Mother's Birthday, but in these last few years I have planted beginning of May. Living in London and having a very protected patio, have never had disasters...yet! BC XX

I planted a lovely batch of sunflowers a few weeks ago , we very rarely get frost on the East coast in Norfolk.............but the snails and slugs have eaten them : (

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 1 May 2009 16:24

Amanda you should ask strays kittens advice on sunflowers
(trying to keep my face straight)

Amanda2003 Report 1 May 2009 16:32

That sounds interesting JoyBoroAngel........lol

I'm have got away with it if my cat hadn't done away with most of the frog population in my garden , they used to keep the slugs under control .
