ohhh and all off year 6 got took to McDonalds.....I think my daughters prom is costing more then my wedding did...

When my lot all left middle school they had various treats in the last week.

A whole day in the school pool , a trip to the beach and such like , culminating in the good old school disco.

I don't like the idea of the whole " prom " thing........as others have said , it's a money spinner.

My daughters year was the first year to hold a 'prom' at her school, my son who is two years older breathed a sigh of relief that it was still a disco 'in his day' lol

It's just an excuse for another spend-fest IMO.

As for primary school, that's just plain silly. Give em a disco and loads of pop and crisps, they dont' need that at their age.

(didn't put this on the original thread, as I knew I would be....possible sworn at again for having an opinion LOL)

Well I still think it's immoral to encourage 11 year olds to attend a prom. The damn school should know better. What about the families who are struggling financially, their children would be disadvantaged for a start.

Mine still have the signed school shirts from when they left which was all they had thank gawd.

To reiterate (big word for me tonight), they only attended a prom when they graduated from Uni.

*goes off muttering about bleedin' tiaras*

proms for leaving primary pmsl - nice if you've got the money!!!
disco straight after school here. boys in footie tops, girls in jeans and tops. yes, doing the sliding across the floor thing. girls standing around giggling.
doubt there are proms in walthamstow for even secondary leavers ;-)) unless you can claim somewhere for a frock ;-))
