Take a kip on my sofa? That's what they were invented for isn't it??

Sofas go in lounges, and lounges are for lounging.
Sofas are made for the sole purpose of relaxing and snoozing, in my opinion, and if I wanted to sit bolt upright I'd sit on one of the dining chairs.

We have 2 sofas in our lounge, one for me and one for hubby, and one armchair which nobody uses! We often take a nap, intentionally or not, and I keep a throw on the back of my sofa because I like to be cosy...nothing better than settling down to watch a film, putting your feet up (no shoes, of course), and snuggling under a blanket/duvet.

I agree with Harpstrings, bring your bed into the lounge Grannie, and have have an afternoon kip!!!!!!

Thank you to all that replied and it has caused me to giggle.OH keeps throws on the sofas that must not be crumpled. If one sits down and gets back up before your bum has had a chance to move he is straightning the throws. He swears blind he has not got OCD.Thanks for making me laugh. Annie

ROFLMAO

What an interesting thread!

My Mother's lounge was for visitors only as was my Mil, so as both OH and I were traumatized as kids, ;) by not been allowed to even sit in the lounge.

As a result our sofas are made of butter covered in suede you melt into them and cannot help but fall asleep whether you want to or not. The single seated chair belongs to my OH and there is no dispute about it. The dogs chair is next to his so he can hang a leg over. I leave my old man there most nights fast asleep with Rooney the "Bishon Frise" on the arm on the sofa with his head hanging down in to thin air. Diana the bulldog half on his lap and chest and her head either in his neck or resting on the other arm, she has to have a pillow.

We then have a two seated sofa and a three seated sofa where my very tall youngest son can often be found sprawled out head hanging down as one dog is lying on his neck and the other at his feet.

The home is the family haven and for living in.

Oh Lindy what a lovely picture you paint of your living room......sounds cosy to me.....

I have one of those swivel/rocker/reclining chairs also, complete with footstool.......it is the best for having forty winks in, but I usually doze off whilst watching telly, and the chair is not in the best position.....

.......and I was watching a sitcom in the week, and the lady took a throw off her settee......and underneath the sofa was covered in plastic......so the family made her remove it, and they all sat on the velvet sofa......and she sat there......perched on the edge........and then they had coffee and biscuits and they were trying not to drop crumbs on the sofa or carpet......their faces were soooo funny........but the plastic and throw went back on the sofa.....

We have'nt got any sofas, but have three recliner chairs, and OH and I often have a doze, especially if a TV programme is boring.
I made myself a sort of sleeping bag out of an old quilted single bedcover(one of those given free with one of the Catalogues), and in the winter had this over me with my feet in the part I had sewn up. Very snug. I also bought myself one of those fleece capes with pockets in, for over my shoulders.

I often hear OH snoring away from his chair.

Wonderful how refreshed you feel after a little doze.

The picture conjured up by Lindy in the Algarve is wonderful. Not quite like that in ours, when we moved house we decided to buy a posh suite and very nice it looks too, cream soft leather and easy to clean. However, I don;t find it very comfy at all as only one seat cushion worn down nicely as only one sits in it. Oh has the chair ( my adult kids joke that they think he is super glued to it since he retired) One large cat has the three seater and the other cat has the two seater. This after scratching them when kittens so that posh suite now looks like draylon!! This leaves me sitting in dining chair with lappy on table,or upstairs sewing in peace. The offer of a pretty patchwork quilt still stands, donations to cat charity. Love to all, Nina

We don't, but I know of a number who do. Unfortunately their sofas always smell yuccy. You cant wash the covers as easily as you can bed clothes.

Snoozing, that's what sofas are designed for, otherwise we'd all be sitting in chairs lol
