I forgot the electric cheese-grater........charged it up, grated a bit of cheese, and run out of battery........same as the re-chargable hand held little vacuum for the stairs....

Only thing l don't use is my egg timer.......... only brought it because l liked it, lol. One thing l did use a lot in the colder months were the toastie bags, better than cleaning a sandwich toaster.

Harpstrings....that's what you get for marrying a chef!!! I can't remember the last time he used any of those things, but they're all very important must-haves - - apparently.
Oh how I wish we had a big kitchen.

P.S. Are you the Tina who lives in/near Bristol??

I seldom use the kitchen!

Berona

Berona Report 1 Jun 2009 00:45

Most of mine were presents and I used all of them at one time, but when I was down-sizing to a small home, more than half of them were given away.

Since then, I have gone onto a strict diet and out came the Foreman Grill, as I have to grill my meat. Only other electrical things I use are the can-opener (arthritic wrist) and the toaster and jug - and most of my cooking is done in the microwave. All others still in the cupboard where I put them when I moved - three years ago!

Haven't used a frying pan since starting the diet and rarely use the baking dish, saucepans or casserole dishes, but when I do, I make enough for a few times and freeze them. Oh yes! the freezer is always full! Both freezers! I waste nothing now. Not like when the kids were small.

Helen I know isn't it dreadful.
They were all the best thing since sliced bread when we first got them.OR is that just the hype from the adverts? lol
Lost count of the different vacuum cleaners because of bad back!
gone back to using Old Oreck that was in the loft as it's the lightest and has long handle.
Think it's because the kids have now left home we don't use them all so much isn't it?

Kitchen equipment which is not used, but which is taking up space in the kitchen because hubby insists he needs them!!!

Sandwich toaster.
Bamboo steamer.
Chocolate fountain.
Pasta maker.
Ice cream maker.
Meat mincer.
Asparagus steamer.
Salad spinner.
About 10 saucepans, plus a set of Le Creuset pans.
4 of the frying pans.
4 sets of salt & pepper shakers.
3 hand blenders.
Garlic press.
Truffle slicer.
Lemon zester.
Olive stoner.
Several assorted sized: whisks, wooden spoons, slices, skillets, ladles, rolling pins, paella pans, tart pans, flan tins, olive stoners, peelers and goodness-knows-whatters.
Several complete sets of chefs knives.

That'll do for starters. LOL

K

P.S. Rosalyn, I thought about offering to buy your Forman grill from you, as hubby is after one, but on second thoughts - we just ain't got the room!!!!!!!

I do a lovely roast......Not blowing my own trumpet or anything. But my roast potatoes are just stupendous LOL.Crisp and Dry is what I use.

Harpstrings

Harpstrings Report 31 May 2009 20:42

LOL Katherine, I was going to put oven too.

But seriously, there really is not much need for a big oven these days, as people do not cook like they used do. I think just a hob and a combination microwave will be enough in years to come.

I also do not cook roasts like I used to, its usually just chops now for OH and myself.
