Mini is a double coated dog, normally I just make sure she has cool, but it looks like this year she may have heat problems. Last year she used to go around with a wet flannel on her head and did suffer from the heat.

Do I get her coat stripped out, knowing she hates going there, will it help ?

would think so Uzzi knowing the problems you have with them both ,and yesit looks like it will get hotter

she won't be happy .. but as she gets older she does feel the heat more,

Rod you know how thick her coat is and she is already 'complaining'

If I knew how I would do as she hates the vets ( she does like the vet mind lol )

but if your in this country Britain i wouldnt ....
but if you are living abroad , im still not sure about it cos she could burn with the sun having no coat .
or do you mean just to take off the top layer of coat
and leave the under layer on .

Cutie I am in Spain and Mini was born here she is now 6/7 maybe older maybe younger she is a rescue . I had not thought about her skin but gladly I can say its dark but even tho' she is short haired she has more hair/fur than my pup who is long haired

edit to say LWH you might be right for my peace of mind and her comfort .....1 day of fretting has got to be worth a summer of free hair

Lady Cutie Uzzi does live adroad and as she said i do know mini sure she means just top coat as mini doessuffer the heat

Thanks Rod, and yes I do only mean stripping out her coat. I would hope top coat but I have never had a dog stripped

Somersetman trust me I would be asking a vet as it is not something I would do, but if I ask do I strip what are they going to say ???

get Rod to take her ..... then see if she likes him after
she will probably disown him lol ...

I had a Collie ( Lassie) when i was younger, we always cut her coat in the hot summers

Julie I clip Minx in summer but Mini is different she is double coated which makes it very thick and I don't know the consequences of stripping the coat out

Cutie if I did that he might make me pay for his fare over ... and that would be expensive !
