My BIL worked at Vancouver Airport so we got concessionary tickets for the flight from Heathrow to Vancouver, My sis & her OH lived then at Abbotsford which is about 45 mins drive from Vancouver Airport.
They have since moved and now live in Chilliwack which is further inland.

Our friends live in Shawnigan Lake. I think you can fly to Victoria on Vancouver Island

Fly into Vancouver and then transfer onto a connector flight to the Island.

If you are renting a car you can drive to Horeshoe Bay ferry terminal. or the Tsawwassen ferry terminal.
One ferry goes to Victoria, the other to Nanaimo.

Not me. :(

I've been to Winnipeg in February ...

Lucky Deb showed up -- Sylvia's on a gallivant to the opposite coast at the moment!

Me, I'm just stuck in the middle ...

**Shudder at the thought of Winnipeg in February**

Portage & Main!

The best part came on the way there, though.

At about 5 a.m. halfway through the long drive along the north shore of Superior, when the heater in the u-drive car died.

Ah, true Canadiana. ;)

The north shore of Superior at 5 a.m. in the middle of February is one wildly impressive sight though, I'll tell ya.

Can I have a moan?
It's 33c here with no breeze.......

But then again we have very little humidity unlike Toronto.

I felt like I had walked into a sauna at Toronto airport when I went outside to smoke.

Oh, poor poor you. Poor, poor you.

Of course, you know that all real Canadians are laughing up their sleeves at you.

We've been twice to Vancouver Island, the first time in 2002 when we "did" the Rockies and the second time at the end of an Alaskan cruise ib 2007. Both times we went to Buchart Garden first in June and second in September. The gardens are unbelievable you should go.

Was on Vancouver Island in late 70's. OH was in the Merchant Navy and we travelled between Vancouver and Japan. Really enjoyed my time in BC.
Hope to go back to visit next year. Fully realise things will have changed but still looking forward to it.

We did a Rockies fly drive which took in Vancouver but not V Island unfortunately. Liked Vancouver a lot, despite having to leave the hotel in the middle of the night (crossing the roof on the way) because of a fire alarm (false alarm!) We flew to and from Seattle.
