As we seem to be having a Rose day
How many songs can you name with Rose/ Rosie
Start you off with a Bette Midler
Some say love it is a river that drowns the tender reed Some say love it is a razer that leaves your soul to blead
Some say love it is a hunger an endless aching need I say love it is a flower and you it's only seed
It's the heart afraid of breaking that never learns to dance It's the dream afraid of wakingthat never takes the chance It's the one who won't be taken who cannot seem to give and the soul afraid of dyingthat never learns to live
When the night has been too lonely and the road has been too long and you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong Just remember in the winterfar beneath the bitter snows lies the seed that with the sun's love in the spring becomes the rose
sorry Rose but I know you will take it in good faith !

Rose, Rose I love you with an aching heart. What is your future, now we have to part? Standing on the jetty as the steamer moves away, Flower of Malaya, I cannot stay.
Make way, oh, make way for my Eastern Rose. Men crowd in dozens everywhere she goes. In her rickshaw on the street or in a cabaret, "Please make way for Rose," you can hear them say.
All my life I shall remember, Oriental music and you in my arms. Perfumed flowers in your tresses, Lotus-scented breezes and swaying palms.
Rose, Rose I love you with your almond eyes. Fragrant and slender 'neath tropical skies. I must cross the seas again and never see you more. Way back to my home on a distant shore.
(All my life I shall remember,) (Oriental music and you in my arms.) (Perfumed flowers in your tresses,) (Lotus-scented breezes and swaying palms.)
Rose, Rose I leave you, my ship is in the bay. Kiss me farewell now, there's nothin' to say. East is East and West is West, our worlds are far apart. I must leave you now but I leave my heart.
Rose, Rose I love you with an aching heart. What is your future, now we have to part? Standing on the jetty as the steamer moves away, Flower of Malaya, I cannot stay.
(Rose, Rose I love you, I cannot stay.)

The Rose Some say love it is a river That drowns the tender reed. Some say love it is a razor That leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love it is a hunger An endless, aching need I say love it is a flower, And you it's only seed.
It's the heart afraid of breaking That never learns to dance It's the dream afraid of waking That never takes the chance
It's the one who won't be taken, Who cannot seem to give And the soul afraid of dying That never learns to live.

The pale moon was rising above the green mountain, The sun was declining beneath the blue sea; When I strayed with my love to the pure crystal fountain, That stands in the beautiful Vale of Tralee. She was lovely and fair as the rose of the summer, Yet 'twas not her beauty alone that won me; Oh no, 'twas the truth in her eyes ever dawning, That made me love Mary, the Rose of Tralee.
The cool shades of evening their mantle were spreading And Mary all smiling sat listening to me; The moon through the valley her pale rays were shining When I won the heart of the Rose of Tralee. She was lovely and fair as the rose of the summer, Yet 'twas not her beauty alone that won me; Oh no, 'twas the truth in her eyes ever dawning, That made me love Mary, the Rose of Tralee.
On the far fields of India, mid war's bloody thunder, Her voice was a solace and comfort to me, But the cold hand of death has now torn us asunder I'm lonely tonight for my Rose of Tralee. She was lovely and fair as the rose of the summer, Yet 'twas not her beauty alone that won me; Oh no, 'twas the truth in her eyes ever dawning, That made me love Mary, the Rose of Tralee.

"Kiss From A Rose"
There used to be a graying tower alone on the sea. You became the light on the dark side of me. Love remained a drug that's the high and not the pill. But did you know, That when it snows, My eyes become large and The light that you shine can be seen. Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray. Ooh, The more I get of you, The stranger it feels, yeah. And now that your rose is in bloom. A light hits the gloom on the gray. There is so much a man can tell you, So much he can say. You remain, My power, my pleasure, my pain, baby To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny. Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby? But did you know, That when it snows, My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen. Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray. Ooh, the more I get of you The stranger it feels, yeah Now that your rose is in bloom. A light hits the gloom on the gray, I've been kissed by a rose on the gray, I've been kissed by a rose I've been kissed by a rose on the gray, ...And if I should fall along the way I've been kissed by a rose ...been kissed by a rose on the gray. There is so much a man can tell you, So much he can say. You remain My power, my pleasure, my pain. To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny, yeah Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby. But did you know, That when it snows, My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen. Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray. Ooh, the more I get of you The stranger it feels, yeah Now that your rose is in bloom, A light hits the gloom on the gray. Yes I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray Ooh, the more I get of you The stranger it feels, yeah And now that your rose is in bloom A light hits the gloom on the gray Now that your rose is in bloom, A light hits the gloom on the gray.

Well I'm sitting on a windowsill, blowing my horn Nobody's up except the moon and me, And a lazy old tomcat on a midnight spree All that you left me was a melody. Rosie, why do you evade? Rosie, how can I persuade? Rosie...
And the moon's all up, full and big, apricot tips in an indigo sky, And I've been loving you, Rosie, since the day I was born And I'll love you, Rosie 'til the day I die. Rosie, why do you evade? Rosie, how can I persuade? Rosie...

She ain't got no money Her clothes are kinda funny Her hair is kinda wild and free Oh, but Love grows where my Rosemary goes And nobody knows like me
She talks kinda lazy And people say she she's crazy And her life's a mystery Oh, but Love grows where my Rosemary goes And nobody knows like me
There's something about her hand holding mine It's a feeling that's fine And I just gotta say She's really got a magical spell And it's working so well That I can't get away
I'm a lucky fella And I've just got to tell her That I love her endlessly Because Love grows where my Rosemary goes And nobody knows like me

I'm a lucky fella And I've just got to tell her That I love her endlessly Because Love grows where my Rosemary goes And nobody knows like me
Fadeout: It keeps growing every place she's been And nobody knows like me
If you've met her, you'll never forget her And nobody knows like me
La la la- believe it when you've seen it Nobody knows like me

I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden. Along with the sunshine, There's gotta be a little rain sometimes. When you take, you gotta give, so live and let live, Or let go. I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden.
I could promise you things like big diamond rings, But you don't find roses growin' on stalks of clover. So you better think it over. Well, if sweet-talkin' you could make it come true, I would give you the world right now on a silver platter, But what would it matter? So smile for a while and let's be jolly: Love shouldn't be so melancholy. Come along and share the good times while we can.
I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden. Along with the sunshine, There's gotta be a little rain sometimes.
Instrumental break.
I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden.
I could sing you a tune or promise you the moon, But if that's what it takes to hold you, I'd just as soon let you go, but there's one thing I want you to know. You better look before you leap, still waters run deep, And there won't always be someone there to pull you out, And you know what I'm talkin' about. So smile for a while and let's be jolly: Love shouldn't be so melancholy. Come along and share the good times while we can.
I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden. Along with the sunshine, There's gotta be a little rain sometimes.
