CATHKIN Report 6 Jun 2009 18:37

I agree about Chiropractors -I have a very good one who will see me the next day if my back is bad but if I go every 12 weeks it keeps the pain at bay

Get a second opinion Joyce, ask for a referal to an orthopaedic person, I hate doctors who fob people off, and paracetamol is good but not for severe pain-I'm sure there must be something more they can sort out for you, bet you felt really let down!
Keep your chin up girl

What a very negative attitude! I wouldn't be happy hearing that from my doctor, has he got something against English women ?

I do wish you had gone to see a doctor while you were in England, Joyce, will you do so if/when you come over to see your new great granddaughter?

You really must try and rest and think about asking for a second opinion, take care of yourself more and worry less about us lot, we don't like to see you suffering.

We will natter next week.

I wouldn't be happy being told to take all that paracetamol! An overdose of it causes the organs to stop working, and by taking 6 a day for goodness knows how long, it sounds like the Dr is telling you (Jan) in five years time that is what will be happening to you. I'd want to talk to someone in English. Surly there must be a Dutch Dr with good English!

It can't be worse!!

Is one or more of your tablets causing the cramp? Or is it the cause of your falls? I think you need to talk about trying other tablets which do the job the ones you are on without these side effects

Hello Joyce,

I think I would go back to your doctor and tell him/her that you can't keep taking that amount of pain killers every day - and that you want to see someone that can investigate your symptoms further.
Maybe you can make an emergency appointment for Monday or Tuesday,
Joyce.
Meanwhile, have a quiet weekend and keep your legs elevated as much as you can. Take care!
Speak to you soon.

Best wishes ,

Sallie.

Joyce , is there anyone else you can see, I dont think I would be satisfied with the answer you recieved, I have seen the doc today and he has given me a persciption for support stockings, he said there isnt a lot one can do for painful legs, but he also said there are many different symptoms and they all should be explored.... everyone is different. ...please dont give up Joyce , I am sure there must be a solution,

Love Jean x

Is it sciatica Joyce, that would be caused by your back I think. I don't know how things work in Holland but can you go to an Osteopath or chiropractor?

I have to say I had to see the physio for my back and it was not a lot of help, the chiropractor was a lot more help.
Did the doctor mean you would have stomach and kidney problems in 5 years time if you continued to take paracetamol at that rate? Do you converse with the doctor through Jan?

Hello Dutch:o))

Could you get a 2nd opinion?? it just seems so final to say they can't stop the pain, exercise is good for everyone but sensibly a physio is quite physical, how about a chiropractic, or the alexandra technique which is exersice but on a one to one!!

Nice to talk to you, my voice is getting there:o))

hello
I haven't been in contact with you before but a little tip you may choose to use.
Before you visit your doctor make some written notes about the problems you have or have had.including those that may seem trivial. Do not be embarrassed by this suggestion as Drs are often pleased about this approach and you do not forget half the points you want to make. Whatever your diagnosis or condition good luck with that appointment

Hope you tell the doctor just how bad things are, the way you can't sleep with the pain and the collapsing and falling over etc so he/she can treat you properly. Don't be fobbed off - get checked out thoroughly so you can enjoy the visit from D and her fella and have a better quality of life. You so deserve it, after all the effort you put in for others.

Take care and will wait to hear news, we can have a natter next week lol

Good luck for tomorrow, Dutch! As Ann as already said, make sure that you tell the doctor everything - if you don't, the doctor won't be able to make the right diagnosis.

I'll be thinking about you, and keeping my fingers crossed.

Best wishes to both you and your hubby.
