I only knew my grandmothers and both were called 'Granny'.
My mum is 'Nana' and I am 'Granny maggie', aka 'Grrrandmamamamama'. Grand daughters other granny is 'Nana 'Net'. My ex is 'Pop' or 'Poppa'. Not sure what my grand daughter calls her other grandad.

I was the second of 23 grandchildren and I tried to say Grandma, but the closest I got was "Gig". Her children-in-law adopted this name for her as they had Mums of their own, (and you didn't call your mother-in-law by her christian name in those days) so it followed that their children called her that too. Her husband was Pop. My other grandparents were Granny and Grandfather.

My grandchildren all call me Nanna and my children-in-law call me by my christian name.

Neil's mum is Nanny, my mum and dad are Nanan and grandad aka grumpy bum, lol
My English ones were Nana Ruth and granda Gib and the Irish Granny and Granda (tho I never knew Granda)

Granny and Grandad.

Evening! I have a Gran and Grandad on Mam's side, and Yiayia and Bapou on my Dads (Dad is greek cypriot!)

Only ever had one Granny and boy was she funny, my kids called her Maw.

My Mum was Nana and geat grandkids called her Nana with Bobby as she had little Y/Terrier named that.

Gwen I love the Moregran and Moregrandad , I do vaguely remember a set of gt grandparents but I can't remember what we called them.

I had both sets of grandparents while I was growing up
My grandparents from England were Nana & grandad
My grandparents from Scotland were Nana & Papa.

I have 2 grown up daughters and they called my mum Grannan (died 1999) and my dad grandad
and OH mum they call her grandma & grandad(he died 1995)
when my first daughter was born in 1980 there was a G.G grandma still living, and my OH grandma who had a cat and we called her Grandma pussycat (died 1996)

my no 1 daughter is expecting our first grandchild in August.
I want to be called Nan & OH grandad.

SIL comes from Italy so his parents will be called Nonna (grandma) and Nonno (grandad)

Dad's mother died when he was 4 and Grandad's 2nd wife had also died before I was born.
Mum's parents were Grandma and Grandad. We saw them once a year when we visited south Wales from Hampshire.

My children didn't know my Dad, who died when our eldest was a toddler, but the 2 grandmothers were always known by their location as part of their name, eg. Gran-in-Portsmouth.

OH and I are Grandad and Granmum to our grandson.
OH's parents are still alive, so grandson when small named them MoreGran and MoreGrandad.

Ive never had any grandparents ..
my mums parents died before i was born .
and my dads ..dad died before i was born ..
my dads mum was still living until i was 9yrs old
but i never knew her .....

She has been known to call me silly nanny too lil minx lol

Pat sorry to hear that you missed out on the joys of grandparents.

I didn't have any grandparents as they had already passed away when I was born. My children call their's nan and grandad. Great Grandparents are gran and Nanny.

It does seem that Nans/Nanny /nana's are the younger side to Grandma's

Im a nanny and my OH is grumpy lol

mine both sets of parents already had grandchildren by the time mine come along so their grandparent names were already established ~ I already told mine I'l be Nan x

so many names for the same thing really apart from pet names I wonder who decides they will be grandmother and the other Nannan.
I think with my parents my Gran was already a Gran where my mums parents didn't have grandchildren so she became Nan
