Will they bleed into glace icing?

Hello Rosalind, It's years since I decorated a cake like this, but as far as I remember you should be fine. Anyway, if the colours run, you will get a pretty effect, a bit like watercolour painting. You could put some of the icing on a saucer and try it out first.

What's the cake for?

Hi Rosalind,
I sent you 3 MESSAGES earlier, but none of them got through.See others have had trouble.
I said if poss to leave it till tomorrow as they may run if after keeping the cake in a tin the icing softens a bit.Probably too late now,but I saw your thread with no replies and thought I'd add with what I'd do.
hope it's succssful.

If your icing is to wet they will bleed into it. Its best to wait till the icing has started to set (when it feels slightly tacky to touch) then put them on so that they stay in place but don't loose any of their colour.

Hope this gets to you in time

Thanks all, was out yesterday evening.
Left it till this morning, sort of looked OK.
Today is Trinity Sunday and it is the Patronal Day of Holy Trinity Church in Funchal, and it was done as a sort of birthday cake!!
It was to be blessed and then served with coffee after.
I decided I would miss that and stay at home, too nice a day to be in church.
