Hi Purple, yes driving does keep sons mind busy. Too right about worrying about him on big bike and in big 40 ton lorry. You never stop fretting about offspring and I must say, I never thought that I would still be doing laundry for 35 yr old, and i'm supposed to be retired!!! Thanks for concern, luv , Nina from sunny Sheffield

I didn't hear o.h. go to work as asleep, woke up to the sound of thunderstorms at ten past two so hope he got to work dry as he left the car for me to use. After a bit of heavy rain it is now bright and sunny and when I went out in the car a little while ago it was so hot I had to wind the windows down.

Annina, keeps your son's mind occupied then all the toing and froing, hope everything works out ok for him in the end. Glad he got here safely, you must worry about him dashing about on his bike.

Hi Purple, Nina here, Son at a loose end at the moment as going through a very messy divorce. Therefore he is living sometimes with his sister just up the coast from GT Yarmouth, sometimes with a friend in Yarmouth itself and other times with me in sunny Sheffield. He is a lorry driver based in your part of the world and drives up here quite often so having more than one base suits him.
He finally managed to get down there this morning but was wet through on arrival, phoned to say Ok but the roads in a terrible state with deisel and petrol all over the surface. Everything fine now, all clean and shiny.Lots of luv to all, Nina

Well he got home ok, was peeved cos he had struggled into all his wet weather gear, got outside work and it had stopped raining so he got home wet on the inside from perspiration lol

Hope today is brighter and people can get around safely. Annina where in Norfolk is your son coming to, does he work here or live here all the time?

Hi all, we live quite high up in Sheffield, its been raining stair rods all afternoon. At one point, the road outside looked like a massive washing machine was emptying suds, because of the huge hailstones coming down.Son tried to return to Norfolk on his moterbike but had to return as everywhere was flooded and roads closed. Still, it's given the street a good wash.

Been raining steadily here since about 6.00pm. If we have much more we'll be floating away!! Some parts of Yorkshire have had flash floods too.

Well, I got home in the dry about 7.50, so it must have been going another way. I don't like the motorcycle gear getting wet as it has to be spread all over the place to dry out overnight.

Not too many nutty drivers in London tonight in spite of the tube strike which always brings a few weekend drivers onto the roads and they can't cope!

It stayed dry through the evening as well, there were even two motorised paragliders buzzing around.
No hot air balloons thank goodness, one of our dogs was scared by one which appeared at the end of the garden a couple of days after we got him (11 years ago) and he's never forgotten. He barks and howls at them if he is in the garden or on a lead. Off the lead he chases them for a couple of fields. He can see or hear them at a tremendous distance: two or three miles away, well before we notice them.

Oh dear, it's bucketing down here so o.h. won't be happy when he gets in from cycling home, soaking wet and hot and sticky from all the wet weather gear, he has a shower at work when he leaves off , he will need a bath when he gets home ! And no, he hasn't finished installing the shower yet, 18 months now and still the bathroom isn't done lol

We've got it up here in Lancashire now - it's been really odd weather today. Sometimes a bit warm (like just before a storm), sometimes grey and now it's turned into heavy drizzle. Looks so gloomy!

Hope R got home safely Daff. I hate that heavy rain because it batters down all the flowers and the poor hanging baskets. Very damp out there at the moment but no rain.

Heavy downpours here this afternoon, but the weather map on TV didnt show it wet in this area. Pouring off the garden as I type.

Looking very doubtful here in Derbyshire, and I hate it with a passion. In fact frightened to death of the thunder and lightning. One compensation. It is near the cocktail hour, so maybe I will calm down
