Hi Medi~eval~angel, Thanks for coming back to me. As an ex software developer it's not rocket science all you need is another relationship which doesn't force any specific relationship you just need a different representation of the link such as a wavy line. At least then you can add these relations to your tree and sort out the exact link at a latter date.Fuzzy logic is a valid way of representing data. I have two families that I know are related to my family but I just don't know exactly how. If I could add them to my tree other people might find a link.to their tree and hopefully mine. I have a hand written family history written some time between 1855 and 1879 that lists these relations I also have a freedom of the city of Liverpool certificate for the main character I'm trying to track down. There is also loads of aural history from the family. In short it's driving me mad. The main reason I started tracing my family history was to resolve three issues - How was Hugh Shimmin related to my great grandmother.; who had his neck broken Cumberland wrestling and who was lost on Morcombe sands in a pony and trap. |

I don't know how to do it, Keith, but I have sometimes been given access to someone's tree because of a mutual relative, only to find that the particular person is in a box by himself (or sometimes with his wife) and no lines connecting them to anyone else in the tree. So it must be possible. |

Hi Keith I don't think GR has this capability in its trees. You can contact them (via the Contact Us icon at the bottom the page) regarding this. |
