How is everyone coping in this heat? It is dreadful in our flat even though a cool breeze is coming in the windows. Yesterday they took one of our old ladies to hospital in an ambulance, just hoping it wasn't the heat that caused her illness.
Hoping everyone is ok and staying cool as they can.

Dear All

Hello,

Hope you are keeping well and trying to keep cool.

Don't worry in a couple of days, the temperatures are going down.

Thank goodness!

Does anyone pick at their food?

I don't feel like cooking but the family folks need
to be fed and watered.

Take care of yourselves.

Best wishes to all
xx

Have just braved the London Underground, armed with fan, bottle of water, and glucose sweets (the last because I like em!)...if you walk very slowly and take your time, it doesn't seem so bad:-) BC XX

Brian thats really bad about the dogs :((.

I was in a car yesterday an hour there and hour back. It was a horrible journey. Our own car is in for repair (it fell out with a deer) so we have this silly wee tin on wheels with no air con. I hate to think what dogs go through :((

We've got external shutters and they go down when the sun comes up at this time of the year.

Also bought an air conditioner from Homebase this afternoon for £99.99: they're on special offer: and MIL (88) and BIL (Downs) complain if it gets too hot.

Julia,
If you have double glazing, it is better to keep the windows closed as they slow down the heat transfer into the house. Opening the windows lets the hot air in!

I try not to go out in the heat if I can help it, as sun and heat does not suit me. In the house I have as many doors and windows open as I can, and do not do much housework. It is the only way I can cope with it, and always drink plenty of iced fluids.
First thing in the morning before it gets too hot, I go outside and do all the watering outdoors and in the greenhouse. OH goes down to the allotment about 6.00ish to do his watering.
