Anotheranninglos Report 11 Jul 2009 15:48

I'm feeling quite down today but decided there is nothing I can do till monday so am going to solve the issues I can, if that dont work then I will go and read instead.
What with daughter telling us she had cancer last oct, then my heart scare in Nov, then hubby loosing his full time job in feb to go to part time, then his stroke in March, I thought we had our run of bad luck for a while.
Last night I found a lump under my arm pit. I will ring the dr on monday about that.
Im struggling with a course I decided to do and tried doing some at home but the computer keeps freezing on word. Think I will look at the files that can be deleated and do a general overall. If I cant solve that then there is nothing I can do about the course till I go into the centre on Tuesday. So I might just end up reading a book. Am reading Lesley Pearce Trust me at the moment.

Hoobity Report 11 Jul 2009 16:16

Does the lump feel tender Anne, because we have a lymph gland under our arm pit and if we are run down or have an infection it will swell up a bit and feel tender.

Hi Anne,

No wonder you're feeling down, after all the worry you and your family have had since last October. As hoopity said, it might the be the lymph gland that is swollen, because you are run down.

Hope all goes well at the doctors for you - I'll be thinking about you.

All the best,

Sallie

Anne, don't waste your time worrying love.

See the doctor on Monday, and in the meantime read your book.
You may find that the lump has gone by tomorrow.
STILL see the doctor though just to make sure, but we all have bits and pieces happen to our bodies over the months.
You have had a bit a 'pig of a life' this year haven't you?

Bless you,
Deanna X

Anne, hope things are ok when you see the doc. on Monday.

I got really panicky a few weeks ago, I suddenly realised part of my lower jaw was tender and painful and when I had a poke around, found a lump below my teeth inside my mouth, I prodded it a bit and it felt sore and was where the soreness was outside too.
I spoke to my doctor and she looked and felt it and said she didn't think it was anything but she arranged an appointment at the hospital. It turned out to be a long wait, 10 weeks but I go on 23rd July. When I queried the hospital apptmt secretary making it so far ahead, nothing nearer, she said if my doctor had thought it was something bad she would have marked it urgent. That helped a bit but as the time gets closer to go I find the pain in my jaw has disappeared, been gone for weeks and the lump inside is hardly there anymore! I will go and get checked out as I am a bit concerned that my gums are receding badly and they might be able to tell me how to stop that a bit, but feel a bit of a fraud too for panicking.
I do hope your lumpy armpit is nothing but a gland fighting back infection or something.

I often read a lot to distract myself from worrying. Enjoy your book.

Hello Anne

I am sorry to hear that you have had such a difficult time since last October. All the advice you have had so far is so sound and no doubt we shall be looking out for your news after the hospuital visist.
Please be reassured that if your GP is in the least bit concerened you should be able to see a specialist very quickly.

What course are you struggling with, have you spoken to your tutors and can anyone on this site help you?
I also enjoy reading but do not know about Lesley Pearce Trust...is it a good read.

Take care

Liz, you could have an abcessed tooth. I had one once, I found a large whitish lump on my gum, but no pain. A neighbour said it couldnt possibly be an abcess as when she had one she was in agony and her face was all swollen, so you could be between the two of us, a little bit of soreness.

Best wishes to all who are down in the dumps. I feel a bit that way as I am short of sleep today. Every time I try to get 40 winks my OH keeps talking to me. Must get an early night tonight.

Hi Anne, sorry I was away over the weekend and didn't see this. I hope that you find your lump is something not to worry about. My son always says to me there is no point in worrying until you know what you are worrying about!
You have had a rough time this past year so I hope this will be better news for you.

Liz, I have a smallish 'lump'/like a painless boil on my shoulder which i suspect is another rodent ulcer. My doctor said he would mark it urgent for the dermatology doctor at the hospital - that was in June - my appointment is 10 September. I am pretty certain that what we think of as urgent doesn't mean the same to hospitals!

Hello All,
AGain many thanks for all the replys, I havent replied sooner as I generally havent felt well. Tired with headaches. I decided to do a mini detox over the weekend and am still eating fruit and drinking lemon water. Niggling earache too. The lump has gone down a bit so I think it is more likely to me a inflammed gland as it was tender but not now it has gone down a bit and not so red. Think the tiredness is a visious circle as I just grab junk food all the time which isnt any good. Headaches I think are due to driving again. I dont like it but had to relearn after 25 yrs after my Oh had his stroke. crash course in two weeks. At least it has allowed me to keep two part time jobs both not on an easy bus route.I have to go drs with OH for his stroke check up so if I still dont feel right I will say so then as the dr normally asks how I am as well.
As for the computer course it is a drop it one at our locol do it centre and I go in twice a week and do the rest at home, this is where I get stuck as there are no tutors to ask, and my son grunts taps a few keys and grunts and walks away. When I call him back to explain what he did he just goes through those motions again.
Again many thanks,
Anne

Ann, I did say to the chap making the apptmt for me that it's all very well saying it can't be considered urgent or my doctor would have stated that, but when you have a lump somewhere it is only natural to worry and ten weeks is a long time to fret over something, but I have to be honest and haven't worried about it as much as I thought I would, lots of times have forgotten all about it. I said to o.h. the other day that I had the apptmt next week and he said What for? I said I had told him when I went to the doc about it, and he swore I hadn't said a word. So much for loving support there lol I knew he hadn't really listened when I was telling him, as he never asked anything about it or mentioned it further. Would have to have something glaringly obvious like a major limp or something for him to know anything was wrong!!!

Anne, you certainly have had a lot to cope with, especially having to learn to drive again and learning it, etc as well as the worry of your hubby's illness and juggling two jobs. If you are doing a detox, you will get headaches and also they may be tension ones, I get them as I tense up and worry about things, and the headaches come and go. Do be careful of detoxing if you can't rest a lot, as you can't run on empty while detoxing and still do all you usually do. Try not to snack on junk too or it will be a vicious circle, try and make yourself some healthy stuff to take to work with you if you eat there sometimes, and make sure you only have good stuff in the fridge.
Maybe when you aren't on the computer, try and ask your son to help a bit more with explanations rather than just doing whatever you are asking about and not showing you how. Remind him we all have to learn somehow and he wouldn't know how if someone hadn't explained or shown him properly.
Do mention to the doctor the way you have been feeling so he can check you out anyway, as if you get sick who will look after your hubby and keep all the balls in the air? You are very valuable to the family so look after yourself.

unfortunately problems dont seem to come one at a time. You have a lot on your plate but be positive, look after yourself, eat well, sleep plenty and enjoy those around you. At least your husband survived. I hope your lump turns out to be nothing. Take care

Hello Blackrose, sorry I don't know your name,

Yes We are lucky he did survive, and even more so as he is quite well. He has bad days like the other day when he handed in his notice at work and didnt realize what he had done. Two days it took me to explain to him what he had done but he didnt see it that way at all. He is presantly on sick leave. Now I have to try and write a letter to explain that he wants to withdrew his verbal notice. They rang him to see if he would move with the new contractors when they took over and he got so confused he handed in his notice..
