grinding to a stop? Are you getting bored by it's slowness or are you quite happy with the pace and the discussions?

I think a lot of the lack of input is due to folks being on holidays and of course the lovely sunnny weather we have had , usually we are unable to get out because of the rain, so why sit at a puter when the sun is shining....

I think General is slightly saggy at the moment, Lesley, for want of a better word and not wishing to be derogatory:-) t. Part of the problem is that a lot of members migrated to Chat and then those on Chat have discovered Farms, so, bit by bit a bit of 'Life' has been drained out of the Boards.

For instance, I had some quite alarming news to tell the other day and, normally, I would find Hayley or TW so they could commiserate with me. In their absence, (something to do with harvesting numbkins I think) I fell on poor Daff's thread and offloaded my woes. Now that would never happen in the 'old' days...lol...but I was duly comforted in my trauma:-)

Morning Lesley, morning Jean, morning BC!!

I do think the board is quiet just now... chat is quieter, as well.

I don't think it is boring, though... I have been quite busy lately... but always find something of interest when I come on!!

As has been said, the holiday season is upon us, the weather has been excellent until the last couple of days....

How are you today, BC... have you almost recovered? Poor wee soul, so very traumatised, she was as well!!

Love

Morning Daff, I tend to agree with you. There's some interesting threads, just that they're very slow :)

MrDaff Report 12 Jul 2009 10:35

lol Lesley.... I belong to a couple of other sites (nothing to do with geneology!) and it can take a couple of days for a new post to go up, on one of them, so this isn't too bad, not really... just that we are used to a couple of years ago, when all the posts moved so quickly...... I couldn't keep up, then, so missed a lot of what was going on... at least now, you have time to read through and catch up... and add an essay, without finding your post is no longer relevant cos the thread has added an extra 5 pages worth of posts, lol ;¬))

Yes I think they are quiet to .........

But I have a thread going on Chat and have been told by one person that the 26 post that have been put on there are enuf and cover everything ....

so with that attitude its hardley suprising that people dont add...

At one time we use to go of on a tangent and chat about alsorts on threads that were ment for a certain subject .....now days we post and thats it .......

So I guess its down to people having been scolded and abused and got at ..........

I agree that some are on holiday and some have farms where they are busy harvesting at the moment, I think they must be really interesting or addictive, or you cannot leave them because of cyber-animals and crops need tending all the time.....

Hi BC... long time no see, are you well?

I am happy on the site, although I do admit it is often very slow.
I have a few complaints about it since the format has changed, but it is not our fault and so we cannot do anything to fix it.

as far as the General Topics board is concerned, I think people are just busy these days, and as someone else said, the weather has been so nice.

And while I am on here... will you lot stop getting on to poor Buttercup about her drinking.... we all need a hobby don't we? ;-0)

As said before, people are probably out and about in the real world.

I personally don't post on here much of late as I feel this board at times seems one big tale of woe, which is really depressing if one has their own down times off board.

I'm not talking of the odd moan, whinge or gripe, or cry for help, but those who post misery almost every time they post as if they thrive on it

Recently this trend slipped over to the chat board (sticky topic aside) & to be fair I gave the board a glance over then retreated onto more cheerfull sites :o)))

Maybe others fell the same at times ?

It's been a busy few months at work, Lesley, but the load is getting a bit lighter now the school holidays approach.

Life is good, thanks.

And 2 weeks in Northumberland isn't enough! We'll have to go back to see all we missed.

I have been away for the weekend but yes the boards were a bit slow last week. I think it is probably an accumulation of reasons and chat is slow because of FB and farms, but that is a phase and probably wont last. We know that the boards are what we make them and they have had times like this before, usually in the summer, sometimes after problems on the boards. as Kemp says, it doesn't help if people feel they are being criticized as to what they can post, but then we, the members should not allow that to happen, going off at a tangent was always fun. also it doesn't help when people are unsure which board they should be posting on and are corrected by other members or the boards are criticized for being depressing when we want to be there for people who need support. A lot more tolerance would make people feel more comfortable.

But all in all I don't think there is too much wrong with the boards.

And BC I am so pleased that you are no long traumatised.
