My Great Grandmother died aged 104 when I was around 8 years old. I remember going to her 100th birthday party, all of the family were there as well as the TV crew from Look North!! |

I don't remember my Gt granny but I have a wonderful picture of my mum and granny standing behind her, she was sat in a chair and had me on her knee, I was around 4 months old, sadly Granny Jane died when I was 6 months old, but I will always treasure that photo.Mum and Dad remember their grandparents really well and have brought their pics to life for me through little stories, I feel like I did know them because of that |

I only knew my grandmothers, but my daughters both knew their great grandmother (my mum's mum), and my grand daughter knows of her great grandmother (my mum), but as she lives in Portugal, visits are rare. We also have a lovely photo of my grand daughter sitting on my gran's lap (that's her great great grandmother) when gran was 98 and grand daughter was about 9 months old. Gran died aged 99. |

I just remember before the war, being taken to see my fathers grandmother. She kept a sweets and tobacconist shop, but Mum wouldnt let us eat the sweets which were not wrapped, as she said there were mice everywhere in that house! |

I only had my Paternal Grandmother and her Mother, my Gt. Gran died 1940 when I was seven. I remember her as a small Irish lady with snow white curly hair. We, my late Brother and I ,were taken to visit her and I remember playing under her table which was covered with a chenile table cloth. I have a black and white snap of both of them taken at my parents wedding. My Gran passed over in 1961 and my Dad followed in November the same year aged 52, Gran was 79. Our Daughter knew both sets of grand parents but our son just knew my Mother, his Nana. Our Grand daughter, now 32 has known both sets of Grand parents and her daughter, our gt. Grand daughter seven knew her paternal Grandfather who passed over two years ago and sees her paternal Grandmother regularly, and lives next door to her maternal grandparents and sees us, her maternal gt. grandparents about once a week. |

We only had the two Grandmothers alive when I was a kiddy. My maternal Gran was a lovely cuddly nan who you could talk to about anything . She died in 1958 just two weeks before our daughter was born. By that time she was living with Mum & Dad and i used to visit every afternoon ,after stopping at the bakers on the way ,and sit having afternoon tea& cakes and she would tell me lots of family tales, wish I had the forethought to write some of them down. |

I didn't know any of my G Grandparents, but I did know my OH great grandma Her name was Ethel , my OH called her Ninnie, seemingly all the generations before us called her that to. she died in 1982 two years after my first daughter was born, that would make her my daughters G.G. Grandma,I'm glad she met my daughter. my first grandchild is due at the end of august and she/he will have 1 G. Grandmother (OH Mother )and 1 G.Grandfather (my dad). |

I remember a gt. grandmother, on my mother's side. I saw her in about 1952/3, but died sometime in the next 12 months. I know this because at the time we lived in Scotland, and I had come down to stay with an aunt. When we moved back to here in 1954, I can't remeber her being around, though there is a photo taken with her, up at me dads. I thought I had met the Gt. Grandfather on my mother's other side, but recently a second cousin a few times removed, seems to have dispelled this myth, though I am not entirely convinced. |
