I never saw a wild thing
sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
without ever having felt sorry for itself.

DH Lawrence.

I saw it on GI Jane first ;)

I wish I could live like that.

Thank you Fi... I have done, though... I remember once taking myself off the boards in a huff cos I was incandescant with rage, lol... had a good old whinge that day... but it was resolved by pm, and also on the boards, and we get on fine now!!..... I do like to state my case once in a while.... usually, I don't go back into a thread once I've done that, cos I know I'd whinge then, lol!!

Love

I'm quite happy and content with my life..... warts and all... it's the warty bits that help you appreciate the rest!!

I do like a bit of a whinge now and again, though, I have to say.

lol Uggers, sorry to be so flippant, I didn't realise.

I would hate to be on TV no matter what the circumstances but to hang out your dirty linen would be mortifying.

Well it's just a coincidence but I have been in contact in the real world this week with 3 women in their eighties. One lost her only daughter to cancer in January, the other lost one of two sons to cancer the same month and the third woman has buried both of her children, one killed at 28 three weeks after she got married and the other who died a couple of years ago of cancer. I know all these women really well and none of them *ever* go on about their sadness. And then you hear people who never stop whingeing about far lesser things

Oh bum looks like I'm sitting in your corner again Uggs.

reminds me sometimes of the yorkie joke about I lived in a cardboard box, You was lucky we didn't even have a cardboard box ...etc.

If I feel down I think of my nephew who says he is lucky as he is alive with a brain. he is a tetraplegic who broke his neck at 17 tour of duty in the navy.

Hello everyone:) It might make me an emotionally repressed Brit who will have a nervous breakdown one day but so far it works for me:))

I'm not criticising people sharing troubles with friends or people seeking help or anything. We all need people to lean on at times I'm sure but when I see what I think of as people moaning, I remember the way I was brought up.

'I cried because I had no shoes then I saw a man who had no feet'.

That's an old Chinese proverb that I remember reading in my Brownie annual. back in the day.

I rarely feel the urge to grumble about my lot in life . " Stiff upper lip " and " stuff and nonsense " are my by words .

I always tell my kids not to moan about their lives as there is always someone worse off .

Top marks for the tread Uggers : ))

I too was always brought up with that saying, and to 'count my blessings' ... and try to live by them both :)

Oh Uggers, you're just so British! ;) You need to vent your feelings, just like they used to do on that Jerry Springer show :) Maybe we should book you onto Trisha (Does she still exist? - I don't do daytime TV?)

Uggers

Uggers Report 16 Jul 2009 19:56

No Jeannie you are the bottom of the pile love the one who is the worsest off of all. I think that's who Lynda meant ;)) You don't moan though do you:)

Jean Durant Report 16 Jul 2009 19:55

Gawd help us... surely there can't be anyone worse off than me......can there LOL.

I can't in all honesty say I'm big enough to do that David but I do try to count my blessings rather than dwell on the blows that life has a habit of dealing out.
