Sue, on saying that, on a serious note.
Both my sons have the right to display disability badges, as they are my "careres".
But I am able to walk,(assisted, just in case).
So we dont take advantage of the system, so they wont have badges( more to do with street cred, than anything else!!).

I get so annoyed when the disabled parking spaces are filled by non badge holders, or worse still by people using a disabled badge which obviuosly isn't theirs. I need to be able to get the car door wide open to get my mother into her wheelchair and you can't do that in an ordinary width space.

If they are all full, I park in a mother and child one, our supermarket has loads of those compared to disabled slots. They are never full and after all it is a mother and child using it.I am just a bit older than your average child

SUE. I DON'T DRIVE, BUT OFTEN GO TO T....S WITH MY DAUGHTER.
IT IS THE SAME WITH THE PARENT & CHILD PARKING.
YOU SEE CARS WITH NO CHILD CAR SEATS, OR ANY SIGN OF A CHILD BEING A PASSENGER PARKED IN THEM, AND MY DAUGHTER ONCE ASKED A DRIVER WHY SHE WAS PARKING THERE WHEN SHE CAME OUT OF HER CAR WITH NO CHILD OR PASSENGER, AND SHE WAS TOLD NOT TOO POLITELY THAT IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH HER.

NO DISREGARD TO ANYONE WHO IS DISABLED, COS I THINK THEY ARE ENTITLED TO PARKING SPACES IN SUPERMARKET CAR PARKS, BUT WHY DO T....S HAVE MORE DISABLED THAN PARENT & CHILD SPACES??

MAYBE IF ANYONE WHO IS MANAGEMMENT IN THIS SUPERMARKET CHAIN COULD ANSWER

WATCH THAT WALKING STICK, COS WE DON'T WANT YOU NEEDING A VISIT IN THE CLINK LOL

TAKE CARE

I am not entitled to park in a Disabled spot and wouldn't dream of doing it, but for a while, I used to see a young couple who would be very early thirties, park in one of only two spots closest to a double-length ramp which led up to the supermarket - and they would run up the ramp racing each other to see who got to the top first. Then, they would do their grocery shopping.

Their car was exempt because it bore a Doctor's badge!

How often I wanted to say something to them, but they had Asian features, so I suppose if I did, their answer would be "no speak English".!

This is an everyday occurrance where we live and is so annoying. T****s and Mc *******s have to be the worst and their customer services dont give a damn. I will push my childs wheelchair around to find the attendant if the disabled bays are taken up by none blue badge owners and it really makes my blood boil. Sadly on the few occassions I have challenged people I have ended up with a mouthful of abuse..
Please God they will never be in the position when they have the genuine need to use a bay or have to lift a heavy child into a wheelchair with very little space.

I remember someone suggesting to me to make flyers which said

"you like my parking space so much would you like my disability too?"

in HUGE letters

on a reciprocal note why do Disabled people park in pay and display places/ should I take pictures of them?

Sue

Sue Report 20 Jul 2009 00:08

Because Bob, we are allowed to if we have exempt road tax vehicles.....

next question?

Bobtanian

Bobtanian Report 20 Jul 2009 00:11

I know you are allowed,
but dont you consider that other people that have to drive round and round looking for a pay and display slot? when you CAN park ANYWHERE, within reason..........it IS a problem where I live......
Of course I dont mean YOU, personally, but others DO park like that.....

I would like to say I think it is totally wrong for anyone to park in disabled or mother and baby bays when not entitled.

However I did park in a mother and baby bay today.

I had my 17 month old grand daughter with me as I babysat overnight.
My dahghter met me at the shop and left with her daughter in her own car while I sat and waited in our car waiting for OH to drive me home. The number of filthy looks I got from people who saw me and no baby was awful.

They just did not know the full story.

So take care before you judge on what you see.
