We got a gadget a few months back that turns plugs off by a remote control thing, it's only tiny and is really useful, plug still in socket but power turned off. You get one remote and a couple of things to plug into the wall socket which you then plug the appliance in to. Very handy when you can't reach the socket easily.

We leave the tv plugged in and switched on at the mains when we go away on holiday cos I have usually set up things to be recorded. Anything not in use like upstairs tv and such, we pull the plug out if we are going away.
I mean you have to leave fridges and freezers plugged in and they can catch fire too I suppose.

Luck of the draw if something is faulty or not, how would you know if not something obvious!

Morining all

Liz ...Another remote control to lose or fight over lol.

It is the luck of the draw really. There was a case not that long ago where a washing machine went on fire.

My daughter checks that the Computer, TV, Radio, Toaster, Kettle, etc. have been unplugged before she leaves the house or goes to bed. But she is quite happy to leave the freezer, fridge, washing machine and tumble drier not only plugged in, but working.

What's the difference?

I unplug everything except the fridge, the freezer, and the clock-radio. If I leave them on I hear a whirring noise, which is my dad turning in his grave!
