yes, i belong to 3 others who in my wildest nightmares have never descended into the lager lout, bullish back stabbing, downright shamefull mentality that clouds this forum.
I strongly believe that the idiots that cause the trouble on here didnt even sign up to GR for geneology research but for slanging matches and stirring, either whilst tanked up on whatever, or just plain nasty who get their kicks out of causing mayhem and misery. They have serious mental health problems, they really do.
A favorite saying of mine, is ever decreasing circles.. thats what the GR chat board resembles, week after week month after month, year after year.. the same problems, the same arguments, the same vile behaviour.. just ever shifting goalposts on what is acceptable.. People constantly pushing the boundaries of what is allowed before the GR admin step in..
It will never change as long as this is a fee paying forum..

a couple of friends and i often say, that when we come on here (rarely now) that its like a depressing weight on our shoulders, and its so nice when going onto other geneology based forums where we can relax, be ourselves and not have to read about yet another spat, fight, or witch hunt. because on those forums people respect each others views and opinions, they may not agree sometimes, but but are intelligent enough to be able to disagree in a polite and respectfull way, Its called manners,something that seems to dellude some certain members on this forum.

Yes, I belong to a couple of others. Haven't been with them for long, but have seen nothing like the spats we see on this one.

I won't name the sites, because I blame the spats on only two or three people, and I am tired of their antics, so once established on other sites, the day may come when I am prepared to take no more and the transition will be easy. To my mind, the wrong people are affected. Problems won't go away until the cause is removed.

I looked in on FB for the places where I grew up and they are all bragging about drugs and gangs and rubbish.
Yet I live not far away and It just isn't like that!
Must be a secret little world behind the real world.
Makes you wonder do the people who cause trouble on here think it's 'big and clever'? sad and weird I call it.

I no longer reccomend this site to my friends who are doing their trees yet I used to talk about it all the time and how nice and friendly everyone was.. Is it a sign of the times?
I say British as it seems to be those who live there that cause the aggro. to my knowledge anyway.

I belong to a few forums - mostly to do with craft. There are no problems with most of them but an American quilting site has a few ding dongs at times but nothing like this site.

I once registered on a forum for people who come from my area of Leeds. It was incredible. I was jumped on immediately for my user name - and then when I said how old I was when we emigrated to Australia I was told that I obviously wouldn't have memories of England and when I said I would like to learn more about the area I was then told that it wasn't actually an information site. Then when I said I give up I was swamped with messages telling me to ignore THOSE people and that I was welcome - I gave up.

LOL Uggers... but its so true. I rarely post any more and hardly visit the site which is sad because I use to love coming here. I have just paid my yearly subs but think that unless things change for the better will not renew again. This site use to have it all once, maybe we could hope that things will improve and once more it will be a great site ???

I think all the forums I belong to have occasional spats but none are like this. And I have never come across obsessive nutters like you get on GR anywhere else on the net.
