we went down to wells next to the sea norfolk camping and used a car battery to watch the wedding wouldnt have missed that. maria.

I had been made redundant from my job and was working as a taxi driver.Had been doing very long hours on the rank,including nineteen hours on a Saturday,so I spent most of the day asleep.

One of our neighbours had a shire horse he showed and he planned to spend the day cleaning tack.I was going to help him but woke up too late.

I sat with my dear old Dad, watching it, and can remember vividly, him saying 'It wont last. She is much too young for him
They just want her as a brood mare'.

Unfortunately how right he was.

I went to a boyfriend's house, platonic one, and spent all day on his sofa, watching his colour tv, I only had a black and white portable one, and he cooked me lunch, provided glasses of wine and cups of coffee etc, most enjoyable. He was a hairdresser so fairly interested in some of the scenes, but I too was disappointed in her dress ending up so crumpled and her hair too, could have looked better.
It was a very special occasion tho and very special at the time, little did we know what a cheat Charles was.

I was eight years old, we had a fantastic street party in our little cul-de-sac, the trestle tables spanned from almost one end to the other. The sun was shining and two of the younger kids in the street were dressed up as the prince and princess. We'd even tied little paper roses in all the hedges...I remember my mum making them.

I remember it so vividly because three days before that I was in a road accident where I was lucky not to be blinded or killed. The doctors said that I was saved by being such a scrawny kid. Though i did spend most of the day in the hospital with them trying to convince me to calm down so they could stitch the wound around my eye. The thing I remember most was protesting very loudly and repeatedly that I didn't want to stay in the hospital because I would miss the party and my mum have to keep apologising and explaining (we had to go back at midnight for them to check on me because of my refusal to stay).

Come the Wedding day, and I had to have my own little separate table so no one would knock me by accident. The pics have me with a stark white patch over my eye. Halfway through the party I had to take my medication and was allowed to lie down on my parents bed after drinking coke (we didn't often get coke , not the real stuff). I crashed out of course and the rest of the day was a blur. lol.

I really should write all these little memories down.

Yes, you may have realised, I loved the Royal Wedding.

From the engagment onwards, I collected pictures of
Charles and Diana and the Royal Family for many years
I kept the pictures in large photo albums.

I stayed in all day and watched it on TV. Two of the things that I remember was how creased Diana's dress looked, although she looked lovely in spite of this. The other memory was when the Royal Family were standing
on the balcony of the palace after the marriage Prince Charles asked his mother the Queen if he could kiss his new wife. He obviously had permission and kissed her, for which the crowds below cheered and clapped. I wouldn't think permission would be sought in this day and age!!

was living in a small Cul- de-sac at time,so we made sure all children had plenty of sweets and pop,in one garden with the father of that house on house duty,IE No Fridge raiding,the other Dad's were sent to their garages,O Such Hardship!NO Shopping no been dragged around town!
Then we Girls got together with a bottle of champagne and a big box of choc's and watched it on TV.x

By coincidence, today would've been my late parents 65th Wedding Anniversary.

I recall saying to my mum that she had been getting ready for her own wedding day so many years before, albiet a lot less lavish lol!!

I was 10 at the time and watched it on TV, I loved Cinderella and this was like a fairytale

was on holiday on parents boat, that year went up the Thames so we stopped for the whole day to watch it , loads of boats going up thames with flags on.

My baby was 9 days old and I took her home for the first time,

Watched it on telly in the mess aboard a warship in Hong Kong...had a tot to celebrate!

I spent 19 hours on duty, most of it in The Mall outside Clarence House. It was a lovely day and the crowds were great.

I remember it well, I was 20, trying to save a 18mth marriage with a 13mth old baby and a 6 week old baby.
The marriage lasted another yr, but soon found my OH and been together since.

i remember watching it on TV with my Mum. I had the day off work and I can remember having cherry bakewell tarts.

I took my mum and sister and the kids off out strawberry picking for the duration!!! the kids were sick (from scoffing the fruit) and those berries that were left were unfit for freezing, which was the plan! The rest of the week most of us sat on the toilet! ))))))

I did see the re-run (about a million times I think) and I did think she looked lovely but therein lies the tale.........................wasnt to last was it? I knew that when she got his names wrong! ))))

We didn't have a colour TV then,just black and white, so a neighbour kindly invited us round to watch the event on their set.
I remember that we were disappointed to see how creased Diana's dress was, as she got out of her carriage.

Children had a red, white and blue themed party soon afterwards, at my husband's workplace.

Sitting in the directors board room at work all day watching the wedding on t.v. and drinking their red wine.

We took turns at helping the receptionist answer the switchboard and only took messages, no work was done at all that day.
