I use the word crabby as well, but I'd never heard of 'crabbit' until SIL used it.

well i have only ever heard the term lard Arse Linda but I guess that is altogether different pmsl

My OH can be a right mard arse if he doesn't get his own way.

it's sad but I think a lot of the local words are dying out ,
words I used when I was a child are rarely used now,
My OH moved to this area when he was 4 years old but if I said to him........

look at that lad cruddling down behind that midden,
he's got bletch all over his legs,if he's not careful he'll slip over and end up scrawping his knees then he'll run home squarking causing a load of mither

he'd look at me like I came from Mars.
