well my letter was delivered today
My Uncle was both surprised at it and possibly pleased , he did say that they had not heard from me in years.

Now is the wait to see if he replies.

On tenderhooks now as the letter may have been delivered, (waiting on confirmation)my phone just rang and my heart went boom ....but it was only someone trying to sell something!

I wish you luck Izzie that at least he will contact you, even if it doesn't build bridges between him and your Mum.

Susan you have a very good point there. I am not sure why they fell out ( it might have had something to do with her divorce) but Mum at the time fell out with everybody, I know my Uncle was hurt about it but let her go her own way.
What will be will be if I can't get them speaking again that won't stop me having contact IF my uncle replies to me

Hmmm! Uzzi...yer never know though...perhaps your mum has a very good reason that she doesn't want to say about.....I say this from experience.....you may feel that you have a right to get in touch, which I am sure is right....but! and it is a big but!......will it be worth it in the long run? I do hope so...not everyone wants to be reunited.....just a thought from a pessimistic Gr'er

i totally agree, if you and your uncle start talking again it doesnt mean your mum has too as well, that would be her choice

I should explain that researching my mums birth family I have discovered my fave Uncle is a blood relative anyway

so bite the bullet I have contacted him after 20+ yrs Mum will go ape if she finds out but tough t**ty they are my family also

not sure the full details, but sometimes you just have to do what you feel in your heart is right and hope for the best

For those whomay actually be following about my family ( uncle ) ... If my Uncle replies to my letter. I may lose my mum but heyho I may reunite them !!!
