I object to anyone deleting threads in which other people have posted. Period. My words are mine, not someone else's. If I want my words deleted, I'll delete them. Of course, I object to the practice of deleting posts, as well ... you say it, you own it.

I don't regard deleting my words as "good old-fashioned courtesy". I regard it as rude.

We have no control over what the management here decides to delete; that is another matter. And I will continue to report posts that are overtly bigoted, racist, homophobic, misogynist ... because I prefer that I not have to look at such filth at a website I pay to use, and I prefer that the corporation I pay for the use of the site not permit it to be used for such purposes.

Once again, all I can say is: if someone doesn't want to hear comments on what they say or post, their best course is not to say or post it. Anyone who thinks their words are above challenge, or that "well that's my opinion" puts an end to any challenge, is wrong.

I'm referring there to posts in a thread. As far as the OP of the thread in question goes: well, pretty much the same, I guess. If one doesn't want to hear answers to one's questions and discussion of those answers, one probably shouldn't post the questions.

This is a discussion board. If the discussion of one's question takes a turn one did not anticipate or does not like: that's life. Not the problem of the person who started the discussion.

Perhaps people who plan to delete threads that contain discussion they don't like should say at the outset that they are only inviting comment from people who agree with them or with opinions posted in their thread that they like.
