Hello Barbs, if you are still about. When it popped up on "My threads" with a recent post I wondered whether Alan was hiding from the ladies ... again.
Where is Alan by the way? I haven't spotted him on the Aussie thread recently, but I haven't looked today. It is only 5:45 am his time so he is still out walking and talking to wheelie bins.

Hi Barbra and Colin

Colin, not hiding, have pm'd you.

Been out and back and shortly heading off to Busselton and then Margaret River. OH's choir is singing at the 9.30 service at Busselton and as it is only about 50 kms from there to Margaret River we decided to have half a day there.

I hope that you are keeping well

Regards

There wos a man from Ethics
He was my grandad..cos!
He crossed the biggest ocean
And landed er'e in Oz

He grew-up there in Ethics
And went to Ethics scooles
His farver was a roof-fatcher
That carried fatching tools

His muver wos a barmaid
In an Ethics pub
She problee served the patrons
Good ol Ethics grub

It problee wosn't effical
To up and move awey
But if he didnt cross the pond
I wood not be er'e today.

Tones the poet...:>))

Hope all is well with everyone.

HI Tone good to see you . does the sun not always shine in OZ then ?? good poem x Barbra

TonyOz

TonyOz Report 31 Oct 2010 09:05

G'day Barbra..:>))

Mmmmmm True, the sun dosent always shine in certain parts of Aussie..lol

The thing with this country ( being so large ) is we have three climates. Cool ( in the South ).... Sub -Tropical..( Central ) and Tropical - Monsoonal ( Far north )....so peeps have a choice what climate they would like to live in.

Can be wet ,cold, o/cast and miserable in Melbourne eg:10c ( south -east of the country ).....but up far north ( Cairns - Darwin ) at exactly the same time of day it can be 39c and people are in their swimming pools....lol

Melbourne is classified as Cool climate ( Generally ) along with Tasmania ( cooler again )...but we can still reach temps up to 43c plus during summer.Tasmania's weather is very similar to some parts of England and Ireland. Thats probably why the Brits settled in Tasmania not long after sailing into Sydney ( Botany Bay in 1788 ) ...then built up a colony in Tassie, as it was probably more suited to their home climate back in the U.K ....Hobart ,Tasmania is the second oldest town in Australia...next to Sydney

Sooooooo Yes,...somewhere in Australia the sun is shining, and its very warm to hot..... but it could be some 4 thousand plus kms away from where i live.....:>((

Sorry for the loooong story, but its a biiiig country, and you have to live here to understand it.....;>))

Barbra, I'm usually up and out at 3.00am WA time. Even those mornings when I have a lay in I'm usually up at 4.30 am. Dawn is breaking at about 4.30am now.

My comp is still doing strange things with the internet. I may have to swallow my pride and get the shop to have a look at it :0((

Barbra Report 31 Oct 2010 22:11

When you say strange things ?? My picture jumps about & i get adverts all the time on my screen . how do i stop the pop ups . its alright on here we can have a chat & not many people come down to ethics :0))
having flu jab monday apparantly its two in one . you get one you get one free !! Barbra

Allan

Allan Report 31 Oct 2010 22:23

Does a set of steak knifes come with the jab as well? :0))

I can connect to the internet but it will not let me connect to my home page, nor to some other sites such as hotmail.

I can get to the genes site through my favourites and via a search. if I do a search for hotmail, the search page comes up but when you click on it, it just hangs there. Four little green bars and that's it! Same when trying to connect to my home page at the start.

There are one or two mobile technicians who advertise in the local paper who will come to your home to sort out problems. I may phone them and see how much they charge
