As long as the money she pays you is from her own pocket and not funded by the taxpayer, I can't see any reason why you can't be paid. |

I take it that she receives money for childcare, if that is the case then I would check with the authorities. Allthough if you register as a childminder I wouldn't see a problem. Do check it tho' |

I seem to remember this is something the current government were advocating a few years ago. Wouldn't suprise me if they'd done an about turn. |

I'd go with what Uzzi suggests and check with your local authority. Certainly, in England nd Wales,a few years ago, a grandparent would have to be looking after another (non-relative's) child, before their relative would be able to claim the relevant allowance. It may be different if you are looking after your grandchildren in their own home as opposed to yours; but, again, I'd check to see how the law stands at the moment. |
