I've alway lived on the edge of town Dizzi.
Usually like most people, I've viewed winter as a cold dank time of year.

But in the countryside, even winter can take on a majesty of its own. The silence when you hear it is something else.

Hi Rose. The optical effect, whether on film or as you see it can be something else.

There were a few cold winters in the 80's. Winter of 86 I was working on a bridleway in Mashbury. We had a lot of snow that year & very little cover, especailly fromt the wind.
When digging up tree stumps, we'd soon lose the layers of clothing & end up naked from the waist up. Anyone seeing would have thought we were mad. At a fag break we'd soon cover up again. lol

Hi Dizzi,
Yes I did, its a lovely photo.

I do like during the winter months. When you see a tree with a street light behind it. How the branches appear to curl around the lamp.

I have a photo somewhere of when it snowed very heavily in Kent about 1985 ish? of me standing in a swimsuit lol ...it was one of those silly dares :)

Hi Stevie, it is fascinating when you get contrast like that , i took a photo of the beach at sunset once in Wales and it came out black and silver.

I might actually pop downand take a photo now , just give it a try :)

I remember the 70s or 80s series of the secret garden. Especially for the title music played on the oboe......can't recall the title, but I can hear it now.

No snow yet here in darkest Essex.

I took some photos when we had the snow last Feb. I was quite suprised how well they came out. I think it was because they almost look black & white. So the contrast stands out.

I like to have photos of my own making next to a poem I may have written......my son likes to do this too. We make them into books. Unpublished but in the family.
