Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 11 Jan 2010 19:59

Mary contacted me earlier and asked me to pass this on:

Thank you all for your caring and support, I've been told my life is like a 'soap opera'. Somedays it does feel that way - and we haven't reached the re-runs yet . . . .

We have lots of snow, Sarah hasn't had a seizure since starting the new med(and taking it), gareth is generally MUCH calmer, except his arms are dong double-time flapping, meg isn't going to work right now as it's too far in the snow, I'm begging off work too and may not go back,Colleen is doing very well in school, average over 80%, minimary is LOVING her baton-twirling class once a week, and Em is dancing up a storm . The dogs arrive in a month, hopefully.

We had insulation blown into the walls upstairs yesterday and he did the attic too,and the roof over my little sunroom where my desk is. within an hour of completion we realised that the temperature was hugely improved. There are a lot of 1 1/2" holes in the walls but he is coming back to plaster over the putty and C will sand & retouch with paint.

I cannot beleve the difference. it has meant C has had to sort a lot of 'stuff' which has accumulated over years. She left home in 1991, to avoid her step-father, and basically hasn't got sorted since, as her ex moved them from place to place and her boxes came with them.

So we are all OK, I was very saddened when my long-term friend died last week but my mood is improving a bit now, when the sun's out.

awaiting surgery for my wrist when it can be arranged, seems a slow process. I am so cross with myself that I basically ignored the symptoms for the best part of a year, now, belatedly I am trying t ensure it doesn't become more inflamed, and further jeopardise the end results.

had a nice chat with Carole (Tink)yesterday, in the middle of Gareth having a meltdown, seems he thought we were moving when everything was covered with sheets and there were lots of bags and boxes around to keep out the dust with the insulation. Thanks Carole for calling, I hate being out of the loop, so to speak.

-----------

Mary, if/when you manage to read this, I send you my love and a big hug and hope things go well at home and the dogs come on time, so you can start to relax a little once the children are used to them and have new 'carers'

take care
Lizxxx

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 6 Feb 2010 20:05

Got this message the other day from Mary :
Feeling rotten with a flu type thingy, terrible cough, sore throat, earache, head cold, joints rebelling .
As of Tuesday next we will have sent $10,000 US for the dogs, only $5000 to go.
My hand is bad, consult appt next Thursday.

Miss the A&D thread but really can't type much. the pain is now up to my elbow, despite being in a splint to rest it.
----

I got a further message today to say Mary has rattles in her lower lungs so seeing the doc in case it's pneumonia.

The dogs are supposed to be arriving Feb 23rd and I hope this goes ahead as once they are settled in and the training with the family done, it should make life easier. Mary is a bit worried that her daughter still has a lot of things to clear away to make space for two dogs but I hope things can work out ok.

I know you will all want to wish our Mary lots of positive thoughts that she feels better soon and can get her surgery done and dusted.

MiniMary will be 13 on the 11th of this month so more celebrations for them all.

At the mo Mary is waiting for her payment to reach gr so she can post sometimes, or reply to pms. Let's hope it's soon altho her wrist in the splint precludes too much typing.

love and hugs Mary and all the family, you are missed

Liz thanks for the update on Mary. Isn;t it exciting to know it won't be long before the dogs are with them. I hope they are worth the money (what a lot).

Mary if you look in we are missing you and hope it's not too long before you are back . Take care xxx

4.35am and I had some mails from Mary, she was feeling rough with her cold so I decided o.h. could afford the phone bill for me to give her a quick call. Colleen answered and Mary was flabbergasted to be told I was on the phone lol, we had a super chat and I hope I cheered Mary and she certainly cheered me.

Life is going to be hectic when the dogs arrive and the trainer will be staying at the motel up the road and coming round every day for a week to help settle the dogs and get everyone used to handling them and fitting the harnesses etc etc.
i hope they turn out to be exactly what is needed to keep the children safer and a little more independent too.

Great to chinwag Mary, and hope we can do it again soon

love

Mary and I have talked before a couple of times, when we first got to know each other and that was wayyyyyy back lol Seems I have known her for ages - just wish I could afford to call her more often - o.h. will have a fit when he checks his phone account, mingy git! He has loaned me his mobile sometimes as he has cheap calls to USA etc on it to stay in touch with his son over there but every time I have asked lately he is either out of credit, or the battery needs charging. I bought him the phone and didn't realise it wasn't very good at holding the charge, he didn't mention it for ages so it was out of guarantee when he said and too late to do anything.

Mary is great fun and was so happy to chat - I think it cheered her up.

Thank you Liz.
It was lovely chatting to you and I went to sleep very happy with something different to think about. I don't get out much folks... ha ha ha

So happy to hear that Mary and her wee family are okay.
I have had a couple of e-mails returned and began to worry about you Mary.
We do think about you a lot and miss your 'newsy' threads... that is, when I come on the computer. I have neglected it a bit lately.

UPDATE FROM MARY ON FRIDAY.
Ive really done it this time. Fell down the last few stairs from C's upstairs flat yesterday morning. Shook myself up badly but it seems I have torn the ligaments in my left ankle and am subjected to a 'air boot brace'("just"$200.) for several weeks. Told it will take several weeks to months to heal. I actually thought it was broken - sore to touch, very swollen and discoloured. Damn and double damn. Can't do anything simply the doc said he hopes the rest of my retirement goes more smoothly than the first 2 weeks have LOL. My wrist surgery is booked for Feb 22nd and the dogs are due to arrive on the 23rd. he wants me to ssue crutches but with this big clod-hopper boot I would be totally unbalanced (more than usual) and increased risk of further injury. For now it must be elevated and minimal weight bearing. miniMary is having a group of her friends for a party here tonight, they are going to see a film in town after having a pizza supper here, then a few are sleeping over till tomorrow. Think I may sleep upstairs, quieter and I can keep my leg up without being in the middle of them all.
Oh I am such a klutz, the prob which made me fall I think is two-fold, first as usual I was probably moving too quickly. Secondly the steps aren't all the same size, some are very much narrower than others so one has to watch one's step and I was rushing at top speed.
Please send me a hug I am feeling sorry for myself . . .

I mailed Mary to ask if she wanted this up, and had further news.... see next post

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 14 Feb 2010 04:52

FURTHER UPDATE FROM MARY - feeling a bit fragile, but today the dogs have been stalled till March 19th for a variety of reasons, so that gives a few more weeks to finish raising the funds. One dog is completely paid up,the other has some left.

Our poor Mary! At least the dogs won't be there this month while she is recovering from her surgery. Just hope she and Colleen can manage while M. is less able bodied than usual, might mean she is getting some sort of rest hopefully, so she will feel better later on when her wrist and ankle heal.

I don't know how she is keeping up with messages so if some people have had some returned she may not be able to deal with many at the mo.

I will keep you posted

Big hugs for you if you are reading this Mary
