its heatbreaking.my family came to england because of the famine .when i went back to galway i was shocked to think they left such a beautiful place to live over here .but starvation and family seperation was.nt a good enough reason to stay. |

I haven't got back before my gt grandfather yet Joyous, but reading that made me think, I know he had two siblings younger than himself...but I wonder if any died before he was born....odd that it hadn't occured to me really, but it is likely I think, given the usual number of children. |

My gran's folks came from Cahirciveen Rose....can't find out anything about them though. Horrific times for most of the population of Ireland.I read The Great Hunger long ago, it was heart-breaking...haunted me for ages. |
