SueMaid Report 29 Mar 2010 11:25

Weeeellllll....not 21 but not 81 either. Seriously - my great grandad was 45 when my grandfather was born in 1885. Grandad married late and my dad was the youngest of four children. My dad was in his late 20's when I was born. My father's maternal grandfather was born in the same year as my paternal grandfather's eldest brother was born - 1866. Hope that makes sense.

Foggy is winning at the moment.

SueMaid Report 29 Mar 2010 12:21

The amazing thing I found is that my paternal grandfather was one of 17 children most of them boys but there are only a handful left to carry on the family name. If the boys that carry the name have girls then that's it.

Pat - does Foggy get a prize?

Sue he goes to the top of the class. With a GR grandparent born 1820 he must be the oldest on here so I have to respect him. Mom taught me to respect my elders see.

Mine were born in the 1860's. I have it in the back of my mind that I met my Gt. Grandfather when I was a child, but distant cousins say I couldn't have. Maybe their minds are as vague as mine, but I can swear I went into his house several times, and saw him sitting in his chair. That would have to have been in the late 1950's, very early 60's.
I suppose if I had his dod, I would know for sure.
