Easter to me.... as a child watching 'Song of Bernadette' on tv almost every year ( Bernadette Soubirou who saw a vision of the Virgin Mary at Lourdes). Chocolate eggs, have to be Cadbury's lol

but really it is about faith and the renewal of life whether in the religious sense of the resurrection or just in the 'mother nature' sense :))

well I am one who doesn't bother with easter anymore, just a commercialised venture like xmas is. Don't even get the hols as OH works but do get the tips !

I do remember though the childish fun we had egg hunting etc, but even that has changed over the years.

Love the songs mind Rose. we used to sing an upbeat version of the 1st.

celebrate it and those who don't :))

whether religious or secular, songs , poems, and thoughts welcome here...and my two favourite easter songs.one of each :)

first one I used to love singing at school

"There is a green hill far away,
without a city wall,
where our dear Lord was crucified
who died to save us all.

We may not know, we cannot tell,
what pains he had to bear,
but we believe it was for us
he hung and suffered there.

He died that we might be forgiven,
he died to make us good,
that we might go at last to heaven,
saved by his precious blood.

There was no other good enough
to pay the price of sin,
he only could unlock the gate
of heaven and let us in.

O dearly, dearly has he loved!
And we must love him too,
and trust in his redeeming blood,
and try his works to do. "

and from 'Easter parade'

"In your Easter bonnet with all the frills upon it,
You'll be the grandest lady in the Easter Parade.
I'll be all in clover, and when they look you over
I'll be the proudest fellow in the Easter Parade.
On the Avenue, Fifth Avenue,
The photographers will snap us
And you'll find that you're in the rotogravure.
Oh, I could write a sonnet about your Easter bonnet
And of the girl I'm taking to the Easter Parade.

In my Easter bonnet with all the frills upon it,
I'll be the grandest lady in the Easter Parade.
You'll be all in clover, and when they look me over
You'll be the proudest fellow in the Easter Parade.
On the Avenue, Fifth Avenue,
The photographers will snap us
And you'll find that you're in the rotogravure.
Oh, you may write a sonnet about my Easter bonnet
And of the girl you're taking to the Easter Parade."
