Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son; endless is the victory, thou o'er death hast won; angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away, kept the folded grave clothes where thy body lay. Refrain: Thine be the glory, risen conquering Son, Endless is the vict'ry, thou o'er death hast won.
Lo! Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb; Lovingly he greets us, scatters fear and gloom; let the Church with gladness, hymns of triumph sing; for her Lord now liveth, death hath lost its sting. Refrain
No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life; life is naught without thee; aid us in our strife; make us more than conquerors, through thy deathless love: bring us safe through Jordan to thy home above. Refrain
- sung at a wedding conducted by OH today.

A lot of my favourite hymns here, thank you. Love Were you there, when I was a teenager one of our friends, a young naval lad used to sing it as a solo, he had a marvellous voice. and when I was in the junior church choir we used to sing For God so loved the World. I had forgotten that so thanks for the reminder.
I don't go to church these days, moved around so much so never got back into going. But I do still have faith and do feel that Easter is special, both from the religious and secular view.
Easter in my youth. Good Friday, church in the morning then a youth cycle ride and picnic afterwards, the only time we were accepted in church in trousers (the girls I mean, this was fifties). Easter Sunday, new clothes, Easter gifts usually included new white gloves for church, probably into summer sandals for the first time if Easter was in April.

I dont go to church but do beleive . think you shouldnt have to go and parade just to prove you beleive (my own view) but have no problem with people that do go.
Always have fish on Good Friday but given up the Turkey roast we always used to have on Easter Sunday as none of mine will eat Turkey so seemed a waste.
Love it now when Tiddler comes home from school singing the modern songs they have in asembly and some that we used to sing are still in there

Tell me the old, old story of unseen things above, Of Jesus and His glory, of Jesus and His love. Tell me the story simply, as to a little child, For I am weak and weary, and helpless and defiled.
Refrain
Tell me the old, old story, tell me the old, old story, Tell me the old, old story, of Jesus and His love.
Tell me the story slowly, that I may take it in, That wonderful redemption, God’s remedy for sin. Tell me the story often, for I forget so soon; The early dew of morning has passed away at noon.
Refrain
Tell me the story softly, with earnest tones and grave; Remember I’m the sinner whom Jesus came to save. Tell me the story always, if you would really be, In any time of trouble, a comforter to me.
Refrain
Tell me the same old story when you have cause to fear That this world’s empty glory is costing me too dear. Yes, and when that world’s glory is dawning on my soul, Tell me the old, old story: “Christ Jesus makes thee whole.”
Refrain

Thank you, Rose.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tell me the stories of Jesus I love to hear; Things I would ask Him to tell me if He were here; Scenes by the wayside, tales of the sea, Stories of Jesus, tell them to me.
First let me hear how the children stood round His knee, And I shall fancy His blessing resting on me; Words full of kindness, deeds full of grace, All in the love light of Jesus’ face.
Tell me, in accents of wonder, how rolled the sea, Tossing the boat in a tempest on Galilee; And how the Maker, ready and kind, Chided the billows, and hushed the wind.
Into the city I’d follow the children’s band, Waving a branch of the palm tree high in my hand. One of His heralds, yes, I would sing Loudest hosannas, “Jesus is King!”
Show me that scene in the garden, of bitter pain. Show me the cross where my Saviour for me was slain. Sad ones or bright ones, so that they be Stories of Jesus, tell them to me.

Dear Rambling Rose
Hello
Thank you for this very nice thread.
Here is one of my favourite hymns:
On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, the emblem of suffering and shame; and I love that old cross where the dearest and best for a world of lost sinners was slain. Refrain: So I'll cherish the old rugged cross, till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, and exchange it some day for a crown.
2. O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world, has a wondrous attraction for me; for the dear Lamb of God left his glory above to bear it to dark Calvary. (Refrain)
3. In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine, a wondrous beauty I see, for 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died, to pardon and sanctify me. (Refrain)
4. To that old rugged cross I will ever be true, its shame and reproach gladly bear; then he'll call me some day to my home far away, where his glory forever I'll share. (Refrain)
Happiness at Easter and Spring.
Take care Very best wishes xx
