A lot of people put doen Cohens lyrics as incomprehensible if you actualy read into them they are not , and only as incomprehensable as let,s say "whiter shade of pale" Tom Trauberts Blues ( even Rod Stewart didn,t understand Tom Waits lyrics ) and a whole lot of Dylans were the same .
The classic must be Bohemian Rhapsody so don,t wonder just enjoy

What I'd say about LC - whatever your personal favourite - is that he's the master lyricist of this generation.

I'd so much love to be able to put into words what he manages to do say in a line or two - for example

"And you treated my woman to a flake of your life
And when she came back she was nobody's wife"

So much hurt, so few words

suzian so true
igor maybe I am strange but I understand Cohen or maybe those who don't understand are strange, yes you are right some do not understand the concept of his songs.( gawd knows what they would say to his poetry then) the same as they don't understand Tom Waits (like him) Dylan well who can't like him ..Whiter shade of Pale I walked down the aisle to ....

Hi Uzzi, everyone :))

Dance Me to the End of Love, would love to get married with this playing, it's W's and my favourite of all time, the first he sent me me. O))

"Dance Me To The End Of Love"

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic 'til I'm gathered safely in
Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Oh let me see your beauty when the witnesses are gone
Let me feel you moving like they do in Babylon
Show me slowly what I only know the limits of
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to the wedding now, dance me on and on
Dance me very tenderly and dance me very long
We're both of us beneath our love, we're both of us above
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to the children who are asking to be born
Dance me through the curtains that our kisses have outworn
Raise a tent of shelter now, though every thread is torn
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic till I'm gathered safely in
Touch me with your naked hand or touch me with your glove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

So adore Cohen, Hallelujah is another favourite.

Like a bird on the wire
Like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free

Like a worm on a hook
Like a knight from some old fashioned book
I have saved all my ribbons for thee

If I, if I have been unkind
I hope that you can just let it go by
If I, if I have been untrue
I hope you know it was never to you

Oh, like a baby, stillborn
Like a beast with his horn
I have torn everyone who reached out for me

But I swear by this song
And by all that I have done wrong
I will make it all up to thee

I saw a beggar leaning on his wooden crutch
He said to me, "You must not ask for so much"
And a pretty woman leaning in her darkened door
She cried to me, "Hey, why not ask for more?"

Oh, like a bird on the wire
Like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free

I was fortunate to see him live 18 months ago in my home town, but I've also got the DVD 'L C Live in London' recorded at the O2 Arena in 2008, which is fab.

Oh Wend, you are sooo lucky!

Don't really watch TV but once watched a programme about him, his life ... he came across just as I expected ... a special man.
