Julie, it's awful isn't it when you want to eat and yet want to lose a few inches. I am trying to lose some weight so I don't look quite such a barrel at his son's wedding August Bank Holiday, but it's hard work resisting my favourite things and then when the dozy idiot gets me 4 lots of chocolate for Easter, well!

I would just eat the hot cross buns and then not buy too much in the way of biscuits and buns afterwards.

My very old very wise doctor once told me. If you are trying to lose weight the very first thing you give up is butter or margarine. Just don't use it.

There's your first step.

Never did find out what her second or third steps were. She retired!!

Hi Aunty S. you always follow me on here now lol

I don't eat a lot of spread or butter actually. Just lately it's been muesli with extra porridge oats and dried fruit or sliced banana with semi skimmed milk, for breakfast or more likely, a cinnamon and raisin bagel warmed in the microwave and dunked into a cup of coffee - slobbish I know but scrummy. Have denied myself croissants for a few years now but the bagels make up for them, lol 215 calories for one bagel and never have more than one and a half.

Might have a scraping of spread on toast and half a teaspoon of good fruity jam, or use spread on sandwiches if I have any, but other than that use olive oil for cooking, don't fry much, and eat lots of veg and fruit.

Have stuck around the same weight give or take a couple of pounds for the last three years but want to lose a bit more, won't mention the weight range lol

It's the bit at the front I want to lose, the apple shaped bit - exactly the same as my late Mum, but don't want her health problems so must get some off soon.

Hi Liz, If the truth be known I'm sort of run out of things to do. Waiting for OH to return from camping trip and just being really lazy sitting here typing. Not enough brain cells left to do any deep and meaningful searching and the stuff I need to do, well I'm waiting for another person's brain to kick into gear before I get going again.

You seem to be doing all the right things with your eating. Did you mention the "e" word. Exercise. Are you moveable, motivated, and capable of raising the heart rate.

Same for you Julie Anne!!

Edit. And PS. I have killed several threads this afternoon. Hopefully when the multitude awake they will set them right again. Poor threads, I do have this awful knack. And GR is jumping all over the place.

Julie is like me, suffering with fibromyalgia so not easy to exercise. I also have arthritis in both knees and other bits that haven't been confirmed yet, so struggle to even walk fast or far now.
My weight gain started when I was on hrt years ago, not on it now but can't lose that middle aged spread round my middle lol

I suspected there was some reason you had not mentioned moving body parts in conjunction with your healthy eating. Hmmm does restrict your calorie burning a bit.

I do Pilates amongst my fitness classes. Not the type you see on the telly with a big cheesy grins on their faces. It's too difficult to grin. It is slow, sustained movement of the body with correct breathing technique. No jumping up and down or running or stupid machines. All done lying on the mat and working your middle bits and legs and arms. Very adaptable for people with dodgy knees and oher bits.

It does not burn a lot of calories but it really reshapes your muscles and strengthens your joints and tendons.

Horrible torture!! Dunno why I torment my body in its advanced years.

Pilates is something I have looked at over the years but like all classes it costs quite a bit to go and learn and I don't have any spare cash, also can't always get use of the car to go and also with fm and cfs, I have days when I bathe and have to go back to bed to rest so wouldn't get there regularly and would lose the money paid.

I bought myself an exercise/toning band from avon this weekend, it was on offer for £3 but thought I might be able to do some of the exercises with that, altho there doesn't seem to be a leaflet just diagrams on the elastic itself! Oh well, I wouldn't get that amount of bright pink elastic in a haberdasher's for three quid so might as well give it a try lol!

Hi Liz, Guess What???

If you google, Resistance band instructions, there are pages of how to do it, exercises, what to use, how to use it the benefits etc etc. Enough to keep you out of mischief for hours.

That's the trouble with today's information technology, it is all too readily available. Bring back the olden days I say!!

you know what they use that for liz
its for flattening it all out,
id be tempted to wrap it round me middle rather than do exercise with it,

come to think of it son got some of that wen he went to a physio at the hospital for leg injury,
to help strengthen the muscle he damaged in sport

oh just remembered hubby cleaned his room at weekend so it maybe in bin,
lmao
saved by rubbish

Just found some cholate peanuts which needed finishing before slimming club tomorrow night.
I did draw the line at the cream eggs, the only chocolate I could never eat. The middle puts me off.
Finish up what you have left over and make a new start tomorrow .

Bread!!!!!
We have a family run bakery in our town which has just celebrated 50 years of baking. They bake in the traditional way and still have two generations to hand down to.
They have seen off competition from 3 major supermarkets in our small market town.

I keep it sliced in the freezer out of harms way

Purple Sparkly Diamond - don't know where you live but if in Uk have you asked your doctor about "exercise on prescription"? That way they pay for you to access a gym. Might be worth looking at if money tight

Teresa, oh good thing I don't live near there then I love bread!

Just had cold smoked mackerel in a piece of granary baguette with a mere scraping of spread on the bread, it was tasty.

Salmon cooked in foil with oven roast potatoes, broccoli, green beans, peas and sweetcorn for dinner earlier and before that a cinnamon and raisin bagel dunked in coffee for my 'breakfast', the mackerel mentioned above and my earlier dessert was a chocolate icecream cone from Lidls, naughty but nice. Have also had a yogourt and two of my mint chocolates from Easter. I did have a quick walk to the shops and back at 7pm and have been up and down stairs several times, haven't tried the band yet lol

Back to slimming club tonight
Hopefully will have lost the some of the weight I lost before christmas and put on again.
Need to loose 1 stone and keep loosing and regaining

PSD!!! Go find yourself a copy of the book Detox, Regaining your health and Vitality by Penelope Sach.

No you do not have to do the detox. Just use the hints and eating guides in the book and read all about what foods help in what situations.

Yes I have done the detox. It only lasts for three days and involves eating vegetable soup. My stomach turns over whenever I think about eating vegetable soup. I would rather eat healthy than have to survive for three days on vegetable soup, and apples and pears.

Sounds ok for 3 days and then get back on track. Just got back from an hours walk and my skinny offsprings are scoffing chocolate.
Why oh why are they eating all day and not putting on weight
. Dont know how they manage in lessons at school and uni.
The eldest drives everywhere and still stays the same size!!!!!!!!!
