2.45pm

Only Ros, Jan and I at home. Conrad,Joanne, Ella, and Lewis gone to Peterborough.

I have just sat and watched through our Round the World photo's as a slide show. Showed Ros a couple of photo's of herself before she lost weight, her comment was "FAT COW"!!!! and want them deleted from the photo's I said no way thats part of our life.!!!!

Very foggy this end, but with Rutland water just down the road, I suppose you can expect that.

Jane

Jane Report 30 Dec 2010 15:19

I know what Ros means Frank.I have sneakily thrown away some photos of me in where I look like a beached whale lol.Chris would say "Well there's no change there then"!!.He is quite right of course.
So much for him feeling not well.It is his day off today, and he got called in to work. There are or were only 6 spare beds in hospitals in the 6 counties!!!!!.Ambulances will be unable to attend any major disasters.Surgerys will have to open during the New Year holiday and A&E are asking for GPs to help out.It is just dreadful.Chris has now got to do evening Surgery tonight .It's all gone crazy.

I love looking back over my travel pics Frank, remembering all the different places and wanting to be back there.Oh Well one day!

Sheila I'm glad your Christmas went off without a hitch.Poor April expecting her Daddy. It was bound to be a difficult time this year.I hope you enjoy The Secret Garden.I love that story.

It is such a miserable day.I have lit the fire now just to try and cheer the place up.
I do hope 2011 will be a better year.I can't believe how much sadness there has been for so many on here.

Frank have you heard how your Brother is today?

Fiona Report 30 Dec 2010 17:06

Just had the minister round to see how I am and to arrange at time for him to come back and talk about the funeral service.
dad is still at the hospital, there's no doctor to sign the death cert.(all on their christmas holidays) hoping to hear from the undertaker tonight so that I can go and see dad tomorrow at the chapel of rest and get the death cert at the same time and then register the death.

sorry Frank to hear about your brother.

off to get some tea

Poor Shirley and her family, I do feel sorry for them, what a horrid thing to have happened at any time, but Christmas...! What you say about the hospitals is so right Jane, A friend's D.I.L was on duty on Xmas day at 'The John Radcliffe' in Oxford, and she said that there wasn't a spare bed to be had even in Intensive Care!!! sounds completely crazy, and quite frightenening!!! Hope your OH is feeling better, he's rather going to have to!!!! as you say thought men are big babies when it come to illness, always worse than anyone else and ALWAYS currying sympathy!!! I'm glad your Xmas went off OK Sheila, the first Xmas without a loved family member is always very hard, as it must have been for you Mel. Have just got back from Barnstable, a new camera for OH and a new watch for me, plus a Sainsbury shop!! all in all a pretty good day! No 'dirty books' though Frank! blood pressure couldn't cope with that!!!! Old lady (100 yrs old!!) has been taken into hospital, Ambulance arrived and took her in (lucky there was a bed!) her son (lives in London) is a nice chap but tends to allow other people to take responsibility for his aged mother! just hope he comes down and sorts out her care, or better still a Care Home, as she is SO frail and simply doesn't know whether she's coming or going. She spent her early years in a Childrens Home and her Son promised that he would never put her in a home, but he didn't bargin for her living to such an old age. What of course, O.L doesn't realise is, that Homes in 1920 were VERY different to Homes in 2011. She sees them as Workhouses, so what can you do? it's just a sad situation all round. No news of Polly today, 'no news etc etc'! Nearly forgot, Dysonman tomorrow?!!!!

Frank that is really nice of you to have spoken to our Shirl. I have emailed her a couple of times today. Had replies too.

Sheila glad you had a good Christmas and you always knew it was going to be difficult for poor April and Jess. They have the new baby to look forward to though in the new year. That was good about the free meal about time something good happened to you.

Have cleaned out all the chickens today so they shall be happy about that.

The wind is very cold here today.

Just off to shut the big girls in now as I have forgotten to do it.

I think James girlfriend and parents will be here very shortly. They were near Cambridge a little while ago.Chris has gone back to work ,and I will have to wake James as he is feeling really rough (and looks it).
Dinner is in ,table set wine chilled ,but I have had to throw away the Broccoli as it looked like it had past it's best.So it is carrots ,green beans and frozen peas.Oh well c'est la vie as they say.

HI .I was so shocked to read from Frank about Shirls husband what a terrible shock for her I did not realise her ho was diabetic that explained the good advice she gave me.Thanks to Frank for your information .It seems a sad time for many of you with illness in the family and colds and coughs take care everyone. I coped well over Christmas but with some sadness and strain but soldered on thinking of Mel also Liz and I hope you get some good news with regard to your husband.

The matinee of the Secret Garden was sweet left a little to the imagination
but however nicely performed and afternoon out being in so much playing
scrabble my eyes were boggling a little.

We have mountains of rubbish piling up no dustman no tips open to remove it and a promise of a dustman in two weeks. I call it bad but want to start the new year without too many moans.

The family and friends are departing back to Wales tomorrow I know it sounds ungrateful but will be glad really to relax a little and have sometime for myself.
I will be thinking about Shirl sending her my love I did get a message later telling me about her ho but had seen Franks and then got a text from Ann
I kind of panicked due to the fact I had not been on the computor all over chrismas and thought gosh whats happened .I did try to get on the computor but always ended up washing up due to everyone keeping April going .Jessica handled things well until they played a tape of Matt singing which I thought was a bit silly but we got through it. Christmas was for pleasing everyone so I kept my thoughts to myself. Not a dry eye in the house.

Please keep me informed on Shirl Frank do not want to bother her at this time myself I sent a condolance message love to all from Sheila.

I hope next Christmas will be happier for all of us on here!! I know mine has been a bit flat as mum was Christmas to us. She loved it so much and we always had to have lots of lights around the house and decs. This year I have only put the lights up in the kitchen and decorated a bit in here . Nothing like I usually do as mum liked a lot of twinkley bits around, tinsel over the mirrors etc.I have enjoyed having the holly on the plate rail around the kitchen. I would'nt normally put it up there but having taken all the plates down ready for after Christmas when OH is going to decorate it, it looked a bit bare.

Evening All.
I have just finished clearing away!!! Where do all the dishes come from.I thought I washed up as I went along!!!Chris came in at 8.45 just as Jess's parents were leaving. He has now just finished eating.
Just a quick glance through the posts.I can't comment on all as I am absolutely pooped now ,but Liz that poor Lady.I do hope her son does the right thing and come down to sort things out for her. That is what us children do for our parents.I know I did the best for my Mum,as much as I could anyway.I couldn't have lived with myself if I had left it to others.
I really need to go to bed now,so will say Night Night xx

Thank you for letting us know about Shirl Frank. It must been awful for her and such a shock.

Fiona, hope the change of scene and visiting your relatives helped a little.

I must admit I am ready to take the xmas decs down already. lol I'm always the same every year. I always feel I want to be READY for the New Year and feel as if I'm starting on the back foot if the trimmings from the old year are still about. lol Still, we were late getting them up this year so I better not say anything!!

The washing machine did a wash today but now has an 'error' message on it and won't switch off or select anything......just stuck and there is more washing waiting to go in........and I can't find the handbook or the warranty!! I found all the instructions for the other kitchen appliances all kept together.....this one has gone AWOL. Then I thought I would copy some old VHS tapes to dvd so I could get rid of them........dvd is stuck in the machine and it won't come out!!!! Don't think I'd better touch anything else. OH said tonight that he can feel some tooth root they seem to have missed when he went to hospital to have them removed.

A nice shopping trip today then Liz, new watch and camera for OH. Fingers crossed the Dyson man turns up!

Hope the meal went well Jane and that seeing his girlfriend made your son feel better!!

Off to bed now........so tired lately, must be eating all the wrong kind of food.

Night, night. xx

Morning All,

Larkrise to Candleford starts again next Sunday. Hooray!!!!!!! Love that proggy. Just simple stories that warm the heart and no sex scenes.

Morning Mel and Gang,

Dreary, dull and damp here, but a bit of mist instead of fog. Done the shopping, so, so busy......had forgotten the cider for the pork, had brekkie out and am just about to go and get all the salt washed off the car!

I rang the washing machine people earlier and they told me how to clear the error and now it is purring away with the next load. The paper boy rams thick wads of the papers with the supplements in in the letterbox.......now he has broken it letting in draughts!! .........and OH has managed to lose the bit that broke off by knocking it off a shelf........what next I wonder. lol

I noticed someone had put on another thread about Larkrise starting......looking forward to it too.........wish their clothes weren't SO clean though. I'm sure they wouldn't have been!! lol

Amanda what a lovely idea to buy something to put with a open fire I wish my relatives were so thoughtful. I never saw my brother all over Christmas he said he did not like Yanks being Beanie real name Barnstable and something else.

Fiona did your dad die also then I knew he was ill so much sad times.

Thank you all for your good wishes on my nice Christmas it was great
and hope some of you managed a good christmas.

I went out today in my car and suddenly had cramp in the back of my leg
I felt it roll up my leg and it twisted like a vice it was agony I had to stop
and it hurt so much I cried. I came back home.

I was on my way to see Beryl who had locked Donnie in her shed he wes mending a light switch and she locked the door he had to break his way out. I did laugh though he said you did it on purpose and she said no I did not you know you are the light of my life. Beryl will never change.I think shes got a problem with her health her head shakes badly what would that be do you think. I understand she is to go to the hospital next
month but it is getting bad. I told her your head shakes Beryl whats wrong and she says yours would shake with what I put up with Donnie so why does she still have him around strange women.

The council are to get somebody to take the rubbish after complaints
from all over Birmingham over the week end.thank goodness.

My thoughts are still with Shirl.

Jane loved your photo of your doggie and all that Christmas paper Jasper
managed to swallow a piece of a jig saw puzzle. I said we are a piece missing now and April said never mind grab it when he goes to the toilet
it was funny but not funny if you know what I mean.

Have a lovely day could not find the threads lost my glasses so answered a few. The snows gone...wet and dull now Keep warm and well everyone
such a dreadful time for everybody.

Afternoon All
I can't believe it has gone 2 and I haven't even said good morning to you all lol
I went to get my colour done this morning at 11.Only to be told my appointment was at 2 !!!! Luckily they managed to squeeze me in.There was noway I could have gone back this afternoon .
I don't think we will be going to the party down the road tonight.I think it is better to keep all our bugs at home.
I asked if a basket of washing could be sorted for me when I went out.It is still sitting here. What do they say."If you want something doing,do it yourself"So that is what I am about to do now. Then clear the fire out.

Sheila.Fiona's Dad passed away about 6.30 on Christmas morning in hospital.

I see Beryl is still up to tricks lol.Shutting poor Donnie in the shed !
