Liz I think I had to lick the hankie too before my face was wiped. Probably because I did'nt like it when mum licked it first!! She used to hold my chin so I could'nt turn my face away.

Glad I am not the only one with bad weather.

Same weather here, rain and windy. Ros wants me to go to town with her but I think I will pass again.

Hankies, what were they. ours were a bit of old sheet torn in a square. mind you had they been propery hankies they wouldn't have lasted. I would clean my muddy shoes/boots off before going home with mine, and get a new "HANKIE" the next day. !!!!

My mum, and I did it also, would use the dishcloth, to wipe the childrens mouths, after a meal or ice cream. No wonder they didn't like it. Would hold them by the top of their heads.

Morning All,

Lashing it down with rain here now. OH whizzed off this morning for the MRI scan of his head and then on to his training for the day. I have been to see the nurse about my lipid levels. Cholesterol a bit high, but all the other results were good, so basically the D and E words apply as I thought!!! I need 2 more scans now for the study, then all the checks will be done again next xmas. The surgery was so busy this morning, the car park had no spaces, so people were having to go to the pay and display. There were raised voices in the surgery...someone was very distressed because she'd been told a doctor wouldn't come out. She was clearly upset because she didn't know what to do. It annoys me because I've heard receptionists there before telling people what can't be done. The problem is, they never follow it up with further advice, which inflames the situation.

I've just had my porridge made with water and blueberries with cinnamon sprinkled on top, so will get a cuppa and start the washer going........can't remember when I last put washing outside.

When I was first married I did all the washing by hand for 6 months , apart from the sheets which went to the laundry, while I saved up for a cheap automatic Inde*it machine with a door in the front. Mum had a top loader and couldn't believe you could just switch it on and leave it to it. When I was little, my gran was still using the old copper with a fire underneath and a dolly and a mangle. How things have come on over the years.

Afternoon everyone,

Raining here too , not cold here ,i'am back in short sleeved top !!

I was looking at the news in Australia ,the poor people in the floods, up on the roofs of their houses and clinging to trees and lamp posts ,just awful.

I don't remember being wiped with the dish cloth , i had my face wiped with mums Pinny once or twice , also remember mum walking to town with her Pinny on lol and her wipping it off and putting it in her shopping bag lol

Little Katie is now walking from one side of the room to the other , and i'am sure she's after some more teeth she's putting things in her mouth and trying to have a good chew !!

I saw some on tv about the floods very early this morning.....the shop windows were all under water. I never saw the people on the rooftops and clinging to lamposts........the poor souls. Possessions all lost and fearing for their lives. I think they said it could get worse too.

I bet Katie is into everything now she can get about Mandy!! lol I remember we had to move all ornaments off the shelves and coffee table when my little brother was toddling and 'let loose'. lol I remember dad putting very strong sprung catches on the kitchen cupboards after had a field day with the flour and cornflakes!! lol

OH just rang....he has finished his training and is on the way home......there was me thinking I had another few hours peace! lol

Afternoon everyone. As hubby feeling better today and the rain having stopped here we have been to do the supermarket shop. Managed to spend a fortune without filling the trolley and avoided lots of naughty things as must try to get back to normal eating.

Re dishcloths Have to admit that I sometimes see daughter in law rub granddaughters face with said cloth and smile remembering mum doing the same to me. I also have to admit that I carry a hankie with me most of the trime.
Having fish pie for tea. It's a new recipe using low fat cream cheese so am looking forward to trying it.

Just got back from Holsworthy. Managed to get through dipper mill as it was'nt flooded but not far away from being so. It can rise about 3 foot there.

Was told by OH that if it was flooded to come straight home!! Ah bless he does worry about me.

Mel
Thanks will look up info after tea. Had unexpected visit from sister in law to discuss mother in laws bathroom. Now theres a saga; all sorts of problems when she decided to have the bath taken out and a walk in shower installed. They started the work yesterday and she wants it finished today!! Hopefully will be but hubby told to stay away with his conjunctivitis. We have found recently as she gets older that she seems to panic and is very intolerant will not take no for an answer.
Expect we might be like that one day...shame as she is a dear really.
Must go as sprouts boiling

Evening all

weather rainy, damp & miserable. I'm not heading for my short sleeved tops yet but I have to agree it is milder today than we have had it

Enjoyed my coffee with friends then got a phone call from daughter no 1 , could I come up to her house today instead of her coming down, Sofia has another cold and this time she has a cough & wheezey chest., also could I buy some cough med. went to Bo**s chemist and the woman said Sofia is to young for cough med, phone GP, so daughter phoned and got an appointment at 3.30, DR gave her a good going over & said her chest was clear, just keep an eye on the cough, she should be fine in a couple of days, mind you she did say there was a lot of kids with CROUP going round.

Annx, Glad to hear Katie is on the move , now your in for some fun. Sofia went through that stage of teasing everyone by gently touching the plants and watching us at the same time for a reaction, when you said SOFIA!! NO she would smile and then give the leaf a pull , the little devil now looks at you and says no, shakes her head from side to side and wags her finger. you have to smile discreatly of course.

I'm here Mandy.I have forced myself to stay off the pooter so I could get all that ironing that I was going to get done yesterday done .Then I changed the bedding on our bed.God I hate that job.It is exhausting lol
I was just going to dash off to pick up Hannah from the Station ,had my boots and coat on ,then James rang to say he can pick her up .I can now get the dinner on the go.
It is still pretty miserable out side but not raining at the moment.I was watching a programme on the 9/11 planes while I was ironing.I don't know why I watched it again as it always makes me cry when I see those planes go into the twin towers. It's strange because I was actually ironing at the time when it happened.

Tomorrow afternoon I am off the the pictures to see The Kings Speech with my friend Gill.I would have gone with Fitz but he is away for a couple of days.He is going to some concerts in Birmingham.

My thumbs are very painful today. It must be the wet weather.Even Chester looks a bit stiff in his legs.

I'm glad your OH's eyes are better today Anne, and that they will be even better tomorrow. It's so hard not to rub your eyes with conjunctivitis.

That cheeky squirrel has been busy feeding on the fat cake again today.
