Hi Everyone.

A glorious morning but frosty. Slept really well last night and back much easier today. I walked into town to meet a friend for coffee but caught the bus back. I do'nt often use my bus pass but it is useful.
Talking of liquorice and sherbut reminds me of the wonderful sweet shop we had in Consett where I grew up. It was tiny but packed with wonderful things in glass jars. I have always loved midget gems and coconut mushrooms and still treat myself occasionally. I expect the shop is long gone as it was run by a very old lady ( or so she seemed to me at the time)

Must go now as off to do my stint at the hospital shop.
Welcome Senoj I'm not the new girl anymore. Everyone is so friendly and you will enjoy the chat, I certainly do

Oh I forgot to say welcome Senoj.

Any more memories.

I have put washing in the machine, and done all the hoovering and now feel very proud of myself of the mornings work I have achieved. Suns still out at the mo.

Off now to dust!!! It must be the sunshine.

Annx I nearly always ache after shopping, think it's the trolley pushing that does my hips in.

HI It is a lovely day here just walked the two dogs everything is peaceful at the moment. Hello to any new people .I have tried to catch up on all the threads a bit out of date. I want more than anything for my problems solved keeping a low profile now and hoping this year will be better.

TUNISIA well it seems to have gone more peaceful but who knows.
Indeed a great worry then you have to expect it when your daughter married a countryman shes known for years I hope it sorts itself out because many holiday makers love Tunisia and so does my daughter but not the attitude of Ben Ali so I think big changes for best maybe who knows.I guessed it would flare up this year so much misery and tension.

I am looking forward to the panto on the 27th and hoping to go to Wales
to help sort out Jessicas problems a new house maybe will be better
for her with a new baby and having lost her husband more money the property should give her some money she is looking for something much smaller no land .I just hope those lovable animals will find nice places to
live.I love dear little Rashers he is so cute and Uncle Bryne said he will find him a home where I can go and visit him that will be nice for April she
adores Rashers but he is a pig not a dog and she would have him in doors and he is a little piggy after all with piggy smellie ways Im afraid.

I have been to the charity shop and does anyone remember Weebles well
we asked for some at the shop to make a bit of money for the hospice
and was given dozens but now they need painting so I was painting
eyes and lips on those Weebles Weables not sure how they spelt there name.Today someone gave the shop some 1930 dresses and I managed to wear one it was lovely dropped waist and in green with a great beaded top I wanted to buy it but would never wear it.

Jane are you better the weather should be improving for you now or is it still wet and cold. Mel also. I did not realise you have a horse
I was hoping to ride Aprils horse she was not upset at the horse going and I think it was not her cup of tea really shes into ballet a lot now and shes lost a bit of weight to be more dainty the teacher made some rude comment about her playing the sugar plum fairy she said you will bounce along April horrid women .
Well will go and do some washing up I do not have a machine and took some old plates of the fifties home with me to wash they are in bright yellow and black very fifties Bills had some idea they will sell for a lot
of money.Maybe collectors my ho was horrified he said they are horrible.
I get a bit fed up of transporting the items back and forth.
Have a nice day everyone hope Ross is feeling in less pain
Liz how is your husband these days.
Bye for now xxx oh hows Shirl any Skype chats Frank I hope she is
holding up well I know the pain she must feel. i was sent a little fur tree Matt planted and it is outside just by my back door doing well just a reminder of him. he loved the outdoors and his trees.

2.50pm

Late today, I, or should I say Ros, decided we should clean the hen house and the dishes. But to get at it properly I had to dismantle the chicked run. Which entailes taking off the roof, taking down the chicken wire, fence, removing the posts. I then got the coup out and cleaned in down. I started to dismantle the coup. but two bolts are stuck solid, so will need to drill the bolts out. I am now completely BUGGE#ED. All my cloths in washing machine, and I am showered and shaved.

Thanks for the offer Mandy, but I think Ros and the girls want wooden hangers, as the plastic ones won't be strong enough to hold a bag full of pegs.
Nice to see the sunshine, and it's quite warm in the sun,

Welcome SENJO, hope you stay and enjoy our little party!!! We are a great bunch.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Jan 2011 16:10

Frank I bought a couple of cheap peg bags for the stall when I used to put it out they had very thin plastic hangers on them and they held a lot of pegs. I used them for carrier bags on the stall. Don't forget that a lot of pegs nowadays are plastic and not so heavy anyway.

Sheila it is nice to have a little tree that Matt planted but don't plant it in the garden untill the frosts have gone. It won't stay in a pot for long before showing distress. So make that something to do in the spring.

Sheila I don't have a horse now, I had one when I was young.

Frank you can always put things like you sent me on here so we can all see it. Just copy and paste it.

OLD FART PRIDE

I'm passing this on as I did not want to be the only old fart receiving it.

Actually, it's not a bad thing to be called one, as you will see.

Old Farts are easy to spot at sporting events; during the playing of the National Anthem Old Farts remove their caps and stand at attention and sing without embarrassment. They know the words and believe in them.
Old Farts remember World War II, Pearl Harbor, Normandy and Hitler. They remember the Korean War, the Cold War and Vietnam . They remember the Atomic Age, the Jet Age and the Moon Landings.
If you bump into an Old Fart on the sidewalk he will apologize. If you pass an Old Fart on the street, he will nod or tip his cap to a lady. Old Farts trust strangers and are courtly to women.
Old Farts hold the door for the next person and always, when walking, make certain the lady is on the inside for protection.
Old Farts get embarrassed if someone curses in front of women and children and they don't like any filth or dirty language on TV or in movies.
Old Farts have moral courage and personal integrity. They seldom brag unless it's about their children or grandchildren.
It's the Old Farts who know our great country is protected, not by politicians, but by the young men and women in the military serving their country.

This country needs Old Farts with their work ethic, sense of responsibility, pride in their country and decent values.

We need them now more than ever.

Thank God for Old Farts!

Pass this on to all the "Old Farts" you know.

I was taught to respect my elders….It's just getting harder to find them.

Mel, I must learn to copy and paste, it would save me so much time.

Aching all over at the moment, taken a couple of pain killers, so hope they work soon.

Thanks for the tip about plastic hangers, will pass it on.

Jane

Jane Report 18 Jan 2011 17:22

Me thinks Frank has done too much today. You know you will suffer tomorrow young man or should I say Old Fart lol.

I have had the Brisket on again today as we didn't have it last night. It does seem better than the last time.Very tender .I will do mash to go with it and some sprouts for his majesty.I will be calling him and old fart after them lol. There are loads of other veg in with the meat so I don't need to do any extra.
It has been a lovely day and so nice to be out in the garden for a while.I noticed though when I took the bin out about 20 minutes ago that the temperature has certainly dropped.I think maybe another frost in the morning.

MillymollyAmanda Report 18 Jan 2011 17:46

I remember the Weebles Sheila, they were those little people that wobbled ,you couldn't knock them over .

Frank, i would have thought the plastic hangers would be ok ,there's no weight in pegs, and lots of people have plastic pegs now.
You'll have to rest up and take it easy tomorrow ,you've done too much today .

I hung some washing out today but there was not a lot of dry out ,even though there was a wind and they were in the sun .

Hi Gang! Have been out all day today as it's been such a lovely day so thought we would make the most of it!! Jane, we had Brisket on Sunday and I must say it was delicious! I hadn't done it for ages and it was SO easy! The poor bird sadly died , but perhaps for the best, poor thing had had it's feathers plucked (!!) off its back, so clearly would have died of cold if nothing else! Thankyou for asking about OH Sheila, he goes into hospital on Monday 24th and should be in for about three/five days. Do hope you find good homes for your animals, especially the horse! they are quite a commitment, and take a lot of looking after as well as expense!!! Had lunch out today, so boiled eggs for supper, hooray!!!

Sheila I know a lady who would love your 1930's dresses. She has a company based in York called The History Wardrobe and she gives talks
to groups and displays the clothes. She recently appeared on The One Show and she has some super things. I have seen two of her presentations and recently gave her my mothers wedding dress for a talk on the history of the white wedding.
Her name is Lucy Adlington and her number 01904 620805 and the website is www.historywardrobe.com.I know that she will be interested in your clothes and if suitable, will pay for them.
Frank You just take care and dont let the sunshine make you overdo things.
Supposed to be going to WI tonight but troo much backache. Roll on holidays in three weeks.

Jane Report 18 Jan 2011 18:17

I had a boiled egg for lunch Liz.I often forget I have eggs and they go out of date. It's silly really ,as I forget to write on the box when I bought them.I get them at the garden shop, and they are lovely.I never buy them in the supermarket any more.

I was thinking the other day and still keep wondering why it is that we remember tunes ,songs ,music from years ago with no problem ,but can't think what we did just now lol. There must be something about the brain that retains musical memory. It is a puzzle to me.

Anne ,you are a busy bee aren't you.How do you fit everything in?
Are you going somewhere nice for your hols?

Anne

Anne Report 18 Jan 2011 18:39

Jane I try to keep busy whilst I can mainly because I hate being at home doing the housework!!!!
We are going to Lanzarote for three weeks in February. Hubby always takes me away in the winter as the warmth helps my bones and he is usually away for most of the summer working ( he leads wildlife holidays for a national company)
He tells me its hard work but I know that he is really having a wonderful time chasing birds and butterflies. We had the moth trap out lastnight but no moths as it was too cold.
Talking of music how isit I can recognise music from the sixties after only a couple of bars and I agree that certain pieces conjure up certain images

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Jan 2011 19:00

It is because the swinging sixties was our era Anne.

Will you be away for all of Feb?

Have a chicken casserole in the oven and it's smelling lovely.
