between lounge and bathroom. Had to get Lewis up on kitchen unit to flick the fuse switch back on. Will replace a downlighter bulb tomorrow. What a palavour.

Going to catch a bit of T.V. then an early night.

Morning All
I have been up since 7.30.Chris was snoring so I decided to leave him to it and come down for a cuppa.

Anne ...Macaroni and Smoked Haddock

7oz macaroni
1 tblsp olive oil
1 onion chopped

3/4 pint fish stock
6oz grated cheddar
1/4 tsp grated nutmeg
1Ib smoked haddock skinned and cut into 1 inch cubes
7oz tin sweetcorn drained
4oz spinach rinsed drained and roughly torn
salt and pepper
serve with grilled cherry tomatoes on the vine.

Tip macaroni into bowl and cover with boiling water.Leave for 10 mins
Heat oil ,add onion, gently fry for 5 mins add the butter.when melted add flour gradually mix in the milk and bring to the boil stirring until smooth.Stir in the stock and 4oz of the cheese, nutmeg and salt and pepper.Bring back to boil
Drain the macaroni and add to slow cooker with Haddock and sweetcorn.
Pour over the sauce and gently stir together.Cover with lid and cook on low for 2-3 hours.
Stir in spinach replace lid and cook on low for further 15 mins

I didn't use the nutmeg as I didn't have it ,and don't really like it.
It was really tasty.Enjoy!

Morning Jane and All,

It was good that you all enjoyed your fish last night after complaining about the smell of it cooking. Would'nt you have been cross if it was a disaster!!

So you like the last joke did you Jane?

Not frosty here this morning which means the chicken run will be all sticky mud!!

It is just cloudy and dull here.

Half shoulder of lamb for dinner tonight as I remembered to get it out the freezer.

Morning everyone.

Jane Thanks for the recipe. I do not have a slow cooker but will adapt it for the oven. Will let you know if it works!!
Have just finished pricing sweets and am ready for action this afternoon.
Listening to Abba cd and singing along thankfully hubby in study and cannot hear me! His conjunctivitis seems much better again this morning but he is still a bit of a red eyed monster.
What do you all think of those self service checkouts at the supermarket. I had an arguement with one in Sains***ys the other day and I had to shout at the thing in the end. Hubby thought it hysterically funny but I was sooo cross.I hate machines and I have never ever used a cash machine much prefering to speak to the lady in the bank.I know that I am a dinasaur( that doesnt look right but you know what I mean) but I feel that the art of conversation will die in time.
Now I shall get off my soap box and go make coffee. Speak again after matinee.

MORNING ALL,

Damp, dull day here.

Have replaced the bulb in the kitchen, with Lewis's help !!!. Tightened up the toilet seat. The big screws have started to work loose.

Ros, is in a lot of pain this morning. A small implant in the tummy has broken through the surface of the skin, this is what the ops about next Monday. It's ousing loads of muck, and she is so uncomfortable. She's tried ringing the hospital, but no one around to help. She will ring the Surgeon tomorrow AM. I was thinking of getting her to A & E but she won't go.

Hi Gang! I see 'Larkrise to Candleford' is being axed!!! last programme is on Feb 13th. Apparently it's being taken off while it's 'still ahead', and although I do think that it is silly to go on with a series when it is past it's sell by date, I don't think that Larkrise has reached that yet! I wonder what will be put in it's place?we shall see!! Cloudy old day today, takenMillie right up the river bank and round the top field , she's now kn .....d. Had an e-mail from my SIL yesterday; she and her OH are going on 'another' holiday for two weeks, and she has given me the phone no of the kennels where her two dogs are, (given them ours as well!) in case of an accident! If so, then I can drive up from Somerset to Lincolnshire to collect these dogs and keep them for ..........?! to be fair, she did ask me last time they went off if we would, and I weakly said OK, so now, of course, it's taken as read!!! chances of anything going wrong are remote, but it's the attitude!! what is she like?!!! Dog Pound has come to mind!!!! Anne, I quite agree with you, I HATE the self service checkouts and avoid them like the plague. OH is fine with them, but not me! Also the 'Hole in the Wall', for me is to be avoided. I still go into the Bank for cash and they give you a funny look!! I too am a Dinosaur! (I looked it up!!) the wonders of modern technology are simply not for me!!!

Jane

Jane Report 23 Jan 2011 12:51

I sometimes use the self service tills ,but always pretend I haven't used them before so I get help lol.I do use hole in the walls but if I'm in town will use the ones inside the bank.I feel safer in there.

Liz you can look after Chester for me if you like when we go to James Graduation in July lolol.I'm not sure if the Lady who usually takes him into her home can do it .Only kidding!
My sister had four dogs and often looked after her daughters two.Six dogs ,none of them small!!.Now she says no ,and they go to kennels. It was ridiculous.Janice still drives over to Tewkesbury to fed the cats though.

Frank,I'm not surprised that Ros is feeling uncomfortable with that coming through the skin.As long as it is kept covered and as clean as possible for now it should be ok.

I am always being told by Chris to get into the 21st century especially when it comes to the pooter and gadget things. So another Dinosaur here too.

Anne I hope you sell all those icecreams this afternoon and that the Panto is a great success.

It seems very dark here.Just another grey day. There still seems to be lots of shooting going on.Is it still pheasants that they would be after?

Must think about putting food in the oven.I'm cheating a bit today as it is a Colem**s pack of seasoning and a bag.Chicken breasts cut into chunks, sliced potatoes, green beans and sliced carrots. All shoved in the bag and given a good shake to cover with the seasoning and just popped in the oven for 45 minutes. Not sure what it will be like.
That Smoked Haddock did not seem to stink the house out at all.Maybe it being in the slow cooker makes a difference.
Back in a bit....12.51

Afternoon everyone,

Dull old day here with a little drizzle.

I don't like using the self service tills ,tried it once it kept saying put the goods in the bag !! take the goods out of the bag !! and it charged me twice for a newspaper !! then the helper had to come and sort it out .

Had words with hubby this morning !! cooking bacon i happened to mention that there was some bacon still in the freezer that had been there a while and it should be thrown out ....he said why do you buy things and throw them out !! i said how much do i throw out ...not much.. then he started his muttering ....so now i'am not talking to him,and i feel really grumpy now .....MEN!!!

Going to be a long day with not talking lol
He's nodded off now ......i'll bang something in a minute ....don't see why he should sleep lol

Jane Report 23 Jan 2011 13:26

LOL Mandy.I too am often asked why I buy things and then have to chuck.I say sometimes it just happens.I have a pack of mushrooms that will be going on the compost heap tomorrow.Chris said why did I buy them.I thought we could have had them grilled on toast .He said 'I don't like mushrooms like that 'How long have we been married?I said 30 years too long lol
It's that silence isn't it when you aren't talking.Does Toby creep around knowing that there an atmosphere? Chester does .He usually slinks off to his bed.
Go on ,make a racket!!!!!!wake him up.Going to sleep is his way of avoiding more conflict I reckon lol.Yes MEN!!!!.Love them really.
