6.59pm

Jane when my two children were little, I would let them sit on my knee, and drive, but we were on PENDINE sands in wales. Seven miles long and very very wide. They use to try to break the land speed record there. Somewhere on the beech in the dunes, there is a wreck of a car burried .

Melanie, Who the Blood# hells that lol ???

Jane

Jane Report 7 Feb 2011 19:27

It's not your car buried in the sand is it Frank ? lol.I take it that it wasn't your 2 trying to break the speed record!!!!!!!
Dad used to let me change gears too.I think that is why I just love driving I just always had an interest from a very young age. When I was 17 Dad would take me out for lessons. He was very brave lol.Chris used to take Hannah out when she first started to learn. They got on fine.I took James out when it was his turn and we always ended in a huge row!!I was a nervous wreck. He always drove too fast ,and I had NO CONTROL!!!!!.Thankfully both have turned out to be very good drivers.Must have got it from Mum lol.Chris is not a keen driver. If we take the car to France it is me who does the driving there. He map reads .Then gets us lost lolol

So you don't like my real name?? At least it dos'nt come up with all funny things before and after.................................

People think I am a bloke when I just have Mel !!!!! Someone called my a lad on the trying to find board the other day.

JANE yes Chopes is still there but had a refit last year and dos'nt have the same sort of family feeling in there anymore. Still has nice stuff in there though. I did'nt go in there today. I met my SIL in the High St, she works in the Barnados Charity shop as manager. They have 6 flights of stairs to go up with all the bags of stuff that is donated and she has had ops on her back. Don't know how long it will last, this job.

It's a lovely name Mel. Were you named after Melanie in Gone With the Wind? I worked with someone who was. Youngsters probably think of Mel Gibson.

I did a bit on my tree today and found an only child killed in WW1 age only 19. The poor parents. I have gradually found quite a few who died in WW1 in my tree and I don't think I have realised before how many in our families were killed. Although there must have been relief when the war was over, many parents must have been mourning the loss of their sons. The rest of the family too. As OH said to me you only have to look at all the memorials in villages you pass through.

Don't mention old email and pms!! I'm just the same. lol

Off to bed now, hope I have a better night than last night. I dreamt I was in a hotel and couldn't get everything back in my case!!! It was important because for some reason OH had gone home ahead of me in the car and I needed to catch the train. lol It must have been after we were talking about packing cases on the thread!!! lol

Nighty night everyone xx

Morning all,

It's a lovely day here too, wall to wall sunshine, blue skies and calm. What a change for last week.

Have to pop out too for pills as surgery closes this afternoon.

Ann yes mum was reading gone With The Wind whilst carrying me. She had Chosen the name of Stephen for a boy but no girls name. After a very long hard labour and I had arrived the nurse said to her "What are you going to call your little girl?" and she just said Melanie and it was because she thought she was such a nice person in the story. I must admit I am glad I was'nt called Scarlet!!!!!!!!

Morning all
Bright day here, another easy going day, may pop into town later want to go to the charity shop for some books, running out of books to read,

Was on computer on Ancestry last night doing research on my Millers from Ayrshire. when I came across this other ladies tree, with names similar to mine checked it out and have realised that I have been following down the wrong path, luckly I have just started on this family so have not done too much research. easily done, back to the drawing board as they say.
So many Millers living in Ayrshire , with the same family names, might have a look and see if I have a conection some where, but not in my direct line.

Hello Everyone! Lovely day here, bright sunshine and not too cold! Mel, It's never occurred to me that you could be a chap, as you say, just as well not to be called Scarlett, although is is a pretty name. I nearly called Laura Rebecca, but my mother said that she might grow up to be like Becky Sharp of 'Vanity Fair' fame, so I changed her name!! I've had my car (second hand) about 5 years ago when I was still at work, and for all that time till this saga it has never let me down, it's been a super little car and only had 8.000 on the clock when I bought it. Now it only has 28.000, so, as you can see, I just want whatever is the matter with it fixed, and go back to normal so to speak! we shall see. Both of us feeling a bit weary today, Ian still suffering from a 'bunged up tummy', which is wearing to say the least. Have spoken to D.N and she has told him to take this laxative drink 4 (!) times today, and report back tomorrow morning. It's a bit two steps forward and one back, but we shall get there. I loved the joke Frank, they always make me chuckle!

Not Sunbathing Frank but I have just sat outside with my coffee. It's really pleasant.I was tempted to uncover the table and chairs but thought that would be tempting fate lol.I have the back door open and washing on the line.Feels like summer to me.

I don't know if I know that song.Does it have Never been kissed before in it?

Yes Jane, I think that does come into it.

The nurse has just arrived, so i've come out of the way, gapping holes in tummies don't appeal to me ,!!!

Just looked round the garden, I would like to just freshen up the flowers beds but it's a bit cold round the old watsits, to be out there. Will wait till it gets warmer. Still a frost in the shade.

Hows Ian doing this morning, apart from being bunged up.??? Must be horrible not being able to strain.

I have just had a walk in the orchard and I have mauve, lilac and yellow crocus out!!! among the snowdrops.

Also just taken photos of my new Phil Pheasent. I know him because he has a broken toe which goes round the corner backwards!! He comes each morning for his corn and natters away all the time he is eating it.

Afternoon everyone,

Well this sunshine is lovely ,sitting here in the conservatory it's really warm through the glass, have turned the heating off and opened the windows upstairs , not quite warm enough to have the door open yet .

Mel, does anyone call you Melanie ? no one calls me Amanda .

Your poor old OH Liz, must be really uncomfortable for him being bunged up like that and not being able to go.
Son had the sickness yesterday ,and Jake came home from school and he was sick, now Jake has it the other end !!!

I've been outside sweeping up some leaves from round the back door , a nice day like this makes you want to do jobs outside again .
I've got a stack of ironing to do ,might do some today and leave some for tomorrow .

It does look warm enough to do some outside jobs but haven't opened the back door yet. It may be colder than it looks. The garden could certainly do with a good tidy, probably leave it, haven't ruled out more snow before spring have they.

I'm going to see Jersey Boys on Saturday, a late birthday present from youngest daughter. Haven't read any revues on it, all I know is it's about how Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons made it to fame. At least I know all the songs.
