I loved school holidays. My children got back to normal and stopped quoting teachers, It was less expensive and we had the best of times. I hated them going to school to pick up nasty habits.....Sigh! Them wos the days.

Hey! I love school hols I work at a school but have to admit to saying when my kids were young, break up tomorrow oh God how do I entertain the kids for six weeks. It's much easier in school where you have a strict regime,Elaine.

Young mothers can't control their buggies with one child, imagine the carnage on the pavements when they are not even trying to control the other small satellites.

I cracked a pair of fat ankles last week with third best crutch when two teen mothers were blocking the pavement outside the bank.

Oh the joys of being oldish and grumpy :-))

Sue x

Edit: the fat ankles were NOT mine before Hayley suggests they were!

MrDaff Report 17 Jul 2010 22:46

I worked in a special school... all the children had challenging behaviour and learning difficulties, residential... so I did classroom and pastoral hours... ie, I was in charge in the evening, the teacher during school hours, and we worked alongside each other. We worked 26 hour shifts, which included sleeps, but we rarely got a full night.

Now, I loved it, and yes, I was exhausted by the time holidays came... we had a 42 hour week... but..... 3 weeks into the holidays at summer, I was ready to go back to work!! And yes, I had prep work for the coming term/year... I had to tie in the evening activities with the work each individual child was doing in class so needed to work closely with ALL the teachers, as my group would come from right across the age range... 5 to 11. Plus the challenges their behaviours presented as well... but I was ready to go back.

*sighs* them were the days, lolol

You are a veritable curmudgeon, Sue, that is all I can say... now go and find a steady supply of salmon..... be nice to fishermen ;¬))

Love

Daff xxxx

I say double the time they are off then myself and all my neighbors will be able to get access to our properties without having to arrange going in and out by school hours, due to irresponsible people double parking and blocking driveways.

And yes we were here before the school.

Silly Sausage Report 18 Jul 2010 11:44

I think the staff in schools need that break, I know when I worked in schools we did, so did the children, my choice to work in a school I know but I did so because it meant that I would be off in the holidays to care for my children so they wouldnt be running wild annoying the auld neighbours :)))

Hurrrumph!

During the hols we ferried our kids to the beach, swimming pool, museums, theme parks etc., etc., plus they had their own hobbies at home and they had to help with the animals, they did NOT roam the streets causing havoc. That came later at Uni..lol

I have the right to be grumpy and I will be :-))
