THE sick Facebook group glorifying Raoul Moat has been removed by its creator, who revealed: “I fear for my life.”

Shivoun O’Dowd said she had faced a torrent of abuse since setting up controversial page “RIP Raoul Moat You Legend” within hours of the former bouncer killing himself last Friday.

The jobless mum had refused to give in to her critics, saying she felt sorry for the crazed gunman.

About time she pulled it. Disgusting it was put there in the first place. FB should have got rid of it for her!!

Never looked at it, but too right it should have been removed.

It's been taken down but another group has been set up with 15,000 supporters.

It shows, to me at least, the thin veneer on the surface of human depravity. Many of the people will be just ordinary, everyday folk who would never reveal their admiration for such a person to their family or friends, but the anonymity of the internet allows them to express their very strange (to me) thought processes. It's not surprising, really and I think sites like these are valuable in as much as they are a reminder that there are a lot of very deeply disturbed people around. The danger, of course, is that other warped social misfits will get the idea that if they do something similar, then they will gain the posthumous acclaim that is so sadly missing from their dysfunctional, boring lives.

It's all a sad reflection on human nature in general.

i replied to it after reading how some felt he was a legend .when you concider our boys fighting for there lives in far off countrys it made my blood boil.i really should stay away from those kinda sites.one woman felt she was well hard cos her dad ran bouncers in manchester.and even gave her address as a warning ...come get me .lol

when the story first came out i took a leaf out of muffys book and sat back and watched.[normally i go in guns blazing]i questioned why would someone feel that desperate to shoot others and then himself.did he not stop to think of his family and those he left behind etc.after reading the papers a few days after his death it turns out he was,nt a nice guy at all.

I followed the story since the day after he shot his ex and her new fella, he had just come out of prison serving a sentence for attacking a child, my mind was by then developing a picture of this creature, he then shot an innocent policeman ,father, husband ,son who was unarmed in the face. He then hid like the coward he was for 6 days with the help from his brainless followers and finally he met his end, too much of a coward to serve the time he knew he deserve...... only idiots who live their lives on the wrong side of the law could use the word legend and hero in the same sentenace as this moron's name, and now they all want to cash in on the act selling their worthless stories to the press and showing his worthless friends circle for what they are, the sort of people that decent people avoid, and the owner of the FB group is equally a brianless dimwit who has had her 15 mins of fame, .

for me it kinda sucks as well.we have our boys fighting in far off places to make a better life for us and to keep us safe.yet the numptys we have in this country can be as dangerous.
i think after the cumbrian shootings .the ones that have a brain cell missing seem to think its a good idea.lets hope all this dies down now.

I doubt if the sensationalist sanctimonious gutter press will let it die down. There's always a new angle to look at that will be rabidly devoured by the readership.

Let's face it, it was a total media circus from start to finish. I couldn't believe the comments made by some of the news programmes and it does them no credit at all.

yep i agree.i think there comments did,nt help much.there good tho...they say things which although we take it one way ,it can be understood another way.that way if theres a court issue about there comments ,there safe.

I haven't read about Raul Moat on facebook
but i was just wondering how all these people who are
saying that he is a hero and such (on facebook )would have reacted
if one of their family had been hurt or shot .. i dont think then that they would have hero worship him .. sorry but it makes me sick ....

Hazel, the silly mare who set the "Legend" group up and who has now deleted it, has one up for her now by her so called friends, saying she is a Legend FGS.

Yes, I nearly added to this new group, "If your husband had been murdered or blinded by that nutter, then I doubt you'd have thought Moat was a legend and hence, you'd have not set the group up in the first place you dimwit"

To be fair, many of the so-called 'supporters' on the Moat site weren't.
They were slamming the site. Apparently, there were at least 30 anti-Moat comments to every one 'for' him.
Unfortunately, to reply to one of these sites on FB, you have to click 'like', so it will say eg 1,000 people 'like ' this site - implying they agree with it , when, in reality, 990 people didn't 'like' the site!.

Well apparently the creator has said she was "frightend for her life" cos of some of the very strong reaction she got (understandably). To join a group on FB you have to click on the JOIN/RESPOND TO GROUP INVITE button, the LIKE button is seperate so if people were clicking on it, they must have LIKED it??

Beats me but there ya go.

It's apparently good enough for the Sun to print these letters (no doubt in pursuit of unbiased journalism, not in the "cause" of selling papers - perish the thought) but when others have their views (for which, lets face it, they don't make money) they are villified. What price "free" speech?
