I thought it lookes good.......looks like ITv all night tommorow...starting with a new series of the Cube, followed by Xfactor and then Joe Maddison...

Sunday evening tv suddenly looks better.

I enjoyed tonight's drama and thought it was well acted.

Strange to see the street with the giant ship docked,as that's just what it was like when the ship yards were packed with orders, plenty of work for men on the Tyne.

Julia Report 20 Sep 2010 08:26

I really enjoyed this programme, what I saw of it. I had to go to bed at 10.15, as past my bedtime, havn't got the staying power or the stamina these days. I really wanted to hear the singing, and know how it ended. Perhaps someone would be kind enough to let me know.
Talking of blackout curtains on the other thread. I remember going to 'play' at the home of a friend about 1959/60. They still had their blackout curtains up, and to the best of my knowledge where still up about twenty years later when the friend's mother left the house for a bungalow.

Thank you Kathleen for the information. I will have a look at it this afternoon when all is quiet, and domestic duties are complete. Then I can sit with me knitting and enjoy.

Glad some liked it.....and the songs BC lol

In what way was the ship at the end of the street naff mtg?

Robert

Robert Report 20 Sep 2010 16:21

Hi mtg,

There was nothing naff about the ship at the end of the street on the Tyne in those days.

Hi Mau,

I thought you would be too young to remember ships at the end of the street at Swan Hunters!!!

Jock on the Tyne.

ChrisofWessex

ChrisofWessex Report 20 Sep 2010 16:25

Mtg - aren't you lucky you do not know of air-raids. The only problem I had as I have already said on another thread was the blackout curtain was missing on front doors and that the jitterbug did not arrive in this country until the arrival of the U.S. forces in 1942.

Anne

Anne Report 20 Sep 2010 17:34

I really enjoyed the programme I hope all the dramas they are advertising on the box are as good as this one. My husband is now watching it on I player the beauty is no adverts. Anne

aw thanks Robert *flutters eyelashes* me mam told us ;O)

My maternal side of the family all worked on the Tyne

I thought it was a nice 'gentle' story showing how war affected families
